Good Morning. It's Monday 9th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds take second hiding in a week

Leeds slipped to 14th in the table as their London jynx seems to have followed them them to the Premiership.
Eagles Captain Scott Dann headed Palace into the lead in just 12 minutes, his first goal in three years. Leeds thought they equalised minutes later, but Bamfords arm was adjudged to have been offside (we'll come back to the VAR decision later. To make matters worse, Leeds Summer target Eberechi Eze was having a fantastic time for his South London Club. He has provided the cross to gave Dann the lead, then doubled the scoreline with a curling free lick which crashed into the back of the net via the bar.

Bamford redressed the balance (a little) with a well taken volley from 12 yards after good work from Klich. Leeds luck went from bad to awful with one of the most bizarre own goal you'll see, courtesy of Costa.

Even 3-1 down at half time, a draw did not seem unreasonable. Bielsa decided to throw the kitchen sink at Palace in the second half which seemed to be working until Ayew once again caught Leeds on the break.

    Post match reactions

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson: "We played very well. It was important we had the tactical discipline that we had and important we played as well on the ball as we did. We took those opportunities well and were very good value for those four goals."

"Wins are hard to come by and when you get one you have to be happy with that success, then come down to earth quick enough so you start from zero the next time you take to the field."

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa: "It is not only two games, it has been four games where he have conceded four goals. We are receiving a lot of goals.

"It was a fair defeat. It could have been by a shorter distance, the goals of Palace arrived when we looked like getting back into the game. Despite all the goals we are conceding, [Illan Meslier] has been performing to a high level."

Leeds have conceded the most goals in the Premiership

Leeds have now conceded 17 goals in just 8 league games, the worst of any team (joint with West Brom) in the top flight.

How will this effect the confidence of Meslier. Remember, he's only 20.

Its fair to say Koch had a bad game whilst Cooper's reemergence back into the Leeds starting line up has coincided with Leeds leaking 8 goals in two games.

Opposition teams know they will get chances when Leeds lose the ball. Unfortunately for the Whites, the counter attacks are really hurting Bielsa's men!

Does Phillips really make that much difference?

Should Llorente be given a chance, once fit from injury?

Bamfords disallowed goal - worst 'in the history of football'

Leeds were robbed of a goal on Saturday when VAR adjudged Bamfords arm to be offside.

The Leeds no 9 had his arm outstretched to signal where he wanted it but Mike Dean somehow chalked the goal off.

VAR images show Bamford's feet and most of his body behind the deepest Palace defender as the ball was played through.

The VAR line shows Bamford's tricep being beyond the line, which is not a part of the body you can score from - per the rules.

Fans and pundits alike were quick to slam Dean's absurd decision with many calling it a 'disgrace'.

    Savage said: “It’s quite incredible."

“That’s the most unbelievable one I’ve ever seen. That is the worst I’ve ever seen. The worst in the history of football.”

Morning all. Sick of reading about the disallowed goal. Bielsa is clearly worried and rightly so. We need to start earning clean sheets quickly as the defence is a disaster. We've concede bags of goals with Cooper and Philips playing and conceded plenty without them too so not just down to any one player. Maybe our gung ho style is just a little too reckless for the PL, Im not sure. At least the ten game marker is fast approaching and well be able to make a balanced assessment of where we stand by then

    Morning all,

I said the exact same thing as after the Leicester game, my god we miss Phillip's.

Credit to Palace they set up well and did exactly what they needed to do. Soak us up and score on the break. We needed phillips shielding the defence.

Now while I've said credit to Palace I've also got to say its been a long time since I've felt like nothing was going our way in a game like Saturday.

The disallowed goal- 1-1 is a very different game. Yes it was probably one of the worst decisions ever but with var we have to accept them as the norm now.

Costa own goal- going in at 2-1 down is very different to going in 3-1 down. I kind of think Meslier could have done better but that deflection really defied the laws of physics.

    A very frustrating game indeed.

    Morning all...

Let’s see how we do after the break once we have regrouped and hopefully got at least a couple of players back.

When we reshuffle the squad we can’t get away with the things we used to be able to in the Championship.

Every team in the PL have at least three players who can turn a game, we have 2-3 very good players but no genuine game changers. We rely more on discipline and a team performance if we’re slightly off we’ll get stuffed.

Roy Hodgson said everyone knows how Leeds play, you know how to combat that but knowing and being good enough are two different things it takes immense discipline. In Leicester, Wolves and Palace we’ve been up against very disciplined sides

Quick review of some of the players.

Ayling did a good job against Zaha but due to his defensive efforts we didn't see the usual attacking threat.

Koch seemed to find the game harder then Cooper.

Alioski had his best game yet in the Premier league.

Struijk was ok in the Phillips role, one pass to Harrison was sublime, but at this level we need more than ok. Hopefully he will keep getting better for the experience though.

Harrison and Costa. Hats off to Palace for playing these two out of the game. Completely killed our attacking threat from the flanks. No fault of Costa for the og.

Klich. Good game as ever but a lot of pressure on him as a lot of our attacks were being forced into the middle due to my above point. His set up for the two Bamford goals was outstanding.

Bamford. Two great finishes despite what Mike Dean might think. Worked hard and put away the two real chances he had. What more can we ask for?

Raphinia. Looked good but would liked him to run at players more. Looks like a threat from free kicks.

You wouldn't have to read about it if the man in question hadn't made an absolutely diabolical decision. It wouldn't surprise me if the Prem teams don't call a meeting on this. We may have still lost 4.2, but as mentioned before you can't legislate for that var decision or an og like that. Gordon Banks wouldn't have saved that fluke. <ok>
I know it finished 4.1, but I meant we still may of lost even if it had stood.

Eire may not like it but a perfectly good goal ruled out hurt us and hurt the score and could have been different. It was wrong and made a bad day worse or if allowed could have meant them playing different and a win. It matters.

Bielsa will be fuming and lets face it we will not change the way we play so forget it. Small squad and a third out injured means we will struggle. Both wingers didn't give us any end product otherwise we would have scored more. We rely on wing work and end product so a bad day at the office due to missing players and no end product from out wide. That should hopefully be the worst game of the season

Blaming the games result, Brexit and the American elections on the ridiculous Bamford decision might be papering over a few cracks but we will know soon enough. All tough games in this division and were certainly making far too many unforced errors. The first Palace was joke defending. Their scorer barely jumped to head the ball as our two defenders were rooted to the ground. That was just as responsible for the end result as Bamfords disallowed goal but many seem to conveniently gloss over it

Agree about our defending, but it's been bad before and now during Bielsa's reign. It's bad enough having 3 key players within a small squad out, but when you add var into the mix, how do compensate for that. We can't have become that bad after out classing a Villa side, who beat Arsenal. So we should put 5 or 6 past the Arsenal.<ok>

Don’t think it’s about being outsmarted. It’s outgunned sometimes, knowing what they’re going to do and stopping it are two different things. We go one on one defensively and commit players forward when we have the ball. Pacy players with a touch of class are a problem for us.

You can question the philosophy and a stubbornness to stick to it, if you’re inclined. You can question prioritising ball playing defenders over real ones, if you’re inclined. These things are all interlinked, but we’re not going to go packed defence and route one anytime soon.

I expected some shellackings this season, because better sides will beat the press more frequently and exploit transitions better than we’re used to. I’m still pleasantly surprised how good we’ve looked with the ball, but even though 2 goals on Saturday were flukes, leaking like we do will start to impact on confidence, so we need to sort it out fast.

I think we need to start off solid and feel our way into the game for 15 mins or so. Our passing in the early stages hasn't been clean or crisp. Ayling seems to be popping up all over the pitch more than he used to, i'm guessing Marcelo wants that but personally feel he needs to stick to the right side of the pitch more, so Koch might be not left vulnerable quite so much. Dallas mostly ok on the left. Perhaps while Phillips is out, Struijk could could just sit in front of the central defensive pair. Don't think there's much wrong with what we've been doing. Costa deflection was desperately unlucky. In the final third sometimes it's too rushed, an extra moment to deliver a quality cross would reap better rewards, it is mainly crosses that are snatched at rather than passes i feel.

I go back to what I said yesterday, you cannot take £60m worth of (3) players out of your team and not feel it. We also had also had another 3 first team players missing. Lets just wait and see what happens after the next 3 games which are tough with WHU being the so-called easiest

Only one of those 3 had actually been playing (other than cameos from raphinha). We have a small first team squad... through choice... but it means that when our top players are missing we feel it more than most. Leicester had their back 4 missing against us, but it was us that looked like it!

think it just shows how important top quality squad is rather than just first 11. We’re not there yet and can’t really expect to be.
