I like CAST. It looks like a devious scam, invented by apologists to annoy the f**k out of idiots on forums who jump at the chance to be offended by a few thousand people paying £5 for **** all...you couldn't make it up.
I too have nothing against the Trust. The divisive, bitter days of Duchatelet have earned it some enemies. But I'm not sure I would have done anything differently if it had been my call. CAST continued to try to engage the RD regime in dialogue for months after most other fans had given up. The Trust was completely ignored by Meire and her cohorts, who had nothing but contempt for Charlton fans. So eventually the Trust despaired and threw its lot in with the Coalition. More recently there was controversy when the Trust Chairman criticised Lee Bowyer for events in his past. Personally I think that was a poor call probably influenced by political correctness; a misjudgment of the mood of many Charlton supporters. And indeed an apology of sorts was issued later so I understand. But was that matter enough to earn the permanent displeasure of large numbers of fans, and ongoing calls for resignations? Not for me. Thomas Sandgaard seems interested in a good relationship with fans, and sees the Trust as an obvious route to help with that. In these times when divided fans can now begin to heal old breaches and come together again to support our wonderful old Club, it only seems like common sense to me.
Fairly easy call. If you want Charlton fans to have a voice snd some contact, pay a fiver and vote. The idea of a fan on the board seems pointless to me. Sandgaard is doing fine and is running a club he paid for with his own money. When Duchatalet was in charge he listened to no one, least of all fans. But this seems a good way for fans to have some input. Tradition says where fans are - on the terraces. But it's good that Sandgaard wants a point if contact.
You've called it about right there mate, and although un-wiseman doesn't represent CAST views on the boss, mud sticks and fans have long memories.
There will be far less of a need for CAST or any fan’s body now that we have a decent & committed owner. Fans can go back to being fans.
Given that CAST divides the fanbase & always will do, and that Sandgaard wants a united fanbase, surely the logical step is to euthanise CAST.
You just want ‘certain fans’ to be elected to CAST with a small handful of votes so that you can agitate against them
That's not enough for some people like cardigan man, Millwall Supporter and that bore, have I told you I am in business, Prague Addick.
It badly needs a new generation, fans like @Miketyson2007Junior who don’t want to ‘be something’ or be seen to be important. We can all probably guess already who will stand and who will vote for them - they are all more interested in club politics and internal warfare than the actual football. Personally I’m a lot more relaxed about it now as we clearly have a decent owner and there are far more important things going on in the world full stop. I would add that Lauren Kreamer was an excellent addition to CAST & is precisely the demographic & the quality that should constitute any future CAST Board. She’s highly likely to remain an anomaly where CAST is concerned.
I expect interest will gradually fall away as we go back to being a well run club and (nearly) everyone is happy with the management team. The odd loudmouth who isn't happy with them will find himself rather unpopular.
