I can only answer for myself. I took the fake facebook story at face value, believing it to be true. My response then explains itself. If Marcus Maddison had actually almost come to blows with Lee Bowyer, I would back Bowyer 100% and not want Maddison anywhere near the dressing room again after displaying such an awful attitude and lack of control. Bowyer has contributed an immense amount to CAFC, and achieved great things so far. Maddison has done absolutely nothing in the few weeks since he arrived. Granted, this response was also sharpened by the reputation that Maddison has for being a big-head who rates himself too highly. But my general response would not have been reserved for Maddison alone. If any player just a couple of weeks into his Charlton career chose to fall out publicly with Lee Bowyer, to the point of both men needing to be restrained (which the fake report claimed) I would back our manager totally. Bowyer deserves great respect in my view for everything he's done so far. And he is the boss. Any newbie player who disrespects him? I've no time for them. As it turns out, the Facebook post was garbage. No truth in it at all. But that was not known when it appeared on Charlton forums, put there in good faith. My response was also in good faith, assuming the report to be true. Since Maddison has done nothing wrong I have no animosity towards him now. He was wrongly slurred by the fake post, and my response was a result of being misled.

Yes, I don't know the sources of his long standing reputation for having a big ego and being disruptive in the dressing room. These things usually have some foundation in actual events. Fans of his previous Clubs could elaborate I expect. I can only say that my harsh opinion was based on something that did not happen, so it was not valid. My thoughts on Marcus Maddison are still pretty neutral right now. He has done very little if anything useful yet at Charlton. But he hasn't been trouble yet either as far as we know.
