First booking of the day. Former Goon Bartley in the book for a late one on Kane, following through with his other leg.
0-0 HT. That was absolutely awful. Didn't create anything, looked dodgy at the back, lax and lazy in the midfield and completely lacking in urgency. Everything was so slow and sluggish. Looking tired and lacking in sharpness.
This is crap! We have been half-assed and wasteful. However... how wasn't that a foul on Ndombele and how the feck hasn't Jake been booked yet?
Whenever we play teams like this we do not have a plan to break these teams down , couldn't do it under poch no sign of Jose solving the problem either
To me, there is IMHO far too much 'Oh well, if I eff up or don't play well I don't play the next game but at least I still get my X grand per week' . The UEFA fixture compression of the group stages running into the internationals does not help, but Spurs are not alone in this. If Jose cannot instil Fergie-esque fear of failure into his teams, then having a stronger squad means nothing.
Decent first 20, I thought. Then the mistakes crept in, we lost any momentum and struggled. Dier and Sissoko probably our best players so far, which says a lot about our lack of anything going forward. With 3 top players upfront, it feels like we have no focal point in attack and it seems like they're not sure who's supposed to take the lead in attack and the players behind don't seem to know who to look for.
Jose won't be happy with that Spent most of that half telling them to push forward Why do they just give the initiative away for no reason...like they don't have the focus the persist. Anyway, expect a better second half
Crying out for some added creativity, Jose has to try and get Lo Celso AND Ndombele on together, not just one or the other. Doherty also needs to be reminded he can pass forward when running down that right hand side.
I have to agree. There's little urgency to recover when possession is lost and a general 'meh' attitude all over the pitch. Kane and Dier excepted, the rest need to up their games or at least their work rate.
The front three seems very focused on breaking in behind, then when we have an opportunity to do it everyone slows it right down. We're attempting to bring them out, which they're not going to do when we've got it and it's level. We worked it once on the break and Son dawdled, for some reason.
Hate to say it again but he's so far off the player he was at Wolves it's worrying... He should be settling in by now.
Injured, again. He brings a lot to the table in terms of attitude and aggression, but he's made of balsa wood.
Yeah he seems scared to take a risk taking his man on. It doesn’t always pay off for Reguilon but at least he gives it a good go and he has put a couple of decent crosses in
