I’m not trashing meslier, I like him, think he’s a good young keeper. I was a bit critical of us not signing cover because he is so young and it’s such a critical position. This is a forum to talk about the game, what we supposed to say? we leaked 4 goals again but it wasn’t anyone’s fault.
Bl**dy stupid rule Don’t mind us loosing (well I do really) but to lose because of such a stupid rule really gets my back up
You're ok @milkyboy . Don't think anyone is accusing you of trashing anyone. I just think it's the easy option to blame the keeper just on the end result. That own goal was just a freak occurrence. The winger did his job right by trying to cross the ball. Costa did his job right in blocking the cross and imo Meslier did his job right by anticipating the cross and snuffing out the danger. The result was purely a freak goal. I'd want Costa and Meslier to do exactly the same thing every time in that position. Koch was wrong side first goal. Cooper was mystifyingly out of position for the last goal. They are the two that I would seriously look at from a coaching point of view (among plenty of other opportunities that Palace missed).
Was lost because ,as a team they are wide open defensively, nobody needs to be a world class coach to see that.
they check the box before the guy kicks the ball WJ, the idea that you don’t watch the cross come in is crazy you have to watch to make that split second decision on whether you’re coming or not. He was really slow to react, it was like he just didn’t pick up the deflection which is the only defence for him imo
In other VAR news... Bamford was fouled. Ref didn't give it because it was in the area and he knew VAR would make a decision for him. VAR checked it, decided it was a foul but because it was outside of the area, the ref couldn't bring it back for a free kick. For Palaces fourth goal. Rewind two minutes previous. Zaha was played in on the counter. I'm not 100% sure of it but he looked a good yard offside. Again the linesman didn't put his flag up because he knows that he has to let it play out and VAR will check it if it leads to a goal. The attack kind of peters out but Palace end up with a corner. The corner is cleared but Palace get the ball back and end up scoring on the next phase. We should have had a free kick on the half way line but had to defend a counter attack, a corner and a further spell of Palace attacks ending in a goal. VAR had a nightmare today. I don't even blame the ref or linesman. It's just that the rules are way too **** now. **** me, I thought the Championship refs were bad!
koch was at fault for the first, he’s been at fault for a worrying number of goals, but look at meslier, he can’t save anything from Inside the net! anyway done this one to death!
Well having read through the comments that's a couple of hours I can save today by not watching the game. This session between international breaks has been crap. Will Phillips etc be back for the Arsenal game?
