Watford and Coventry haven’t faced each other in the league since the 2011/12 Championship season, when both games ended goalless.

Watford have picked up more points at home (13) than any other side in this season’s Championship; it’s the same tally they had from their first five home games in their last Championship campaign in 2014-15, in which they were promoted.

Coventry have lost three consecutive away league games, their longest such run since December 2018 (four in a row).

After the game last night and the did it or did it not goal, Watford have moved back with the leading teams in the Championship. There have been no reports of any new injuries from the game. Tom
Cleverley admitted there has been a bit of soul searching since the hugely disappointing defeat at Oakwell on Saturday.

“Trust me, there were some strong words said between ourselves this week,” said the captain. “That's why it was important to get that win and now we need to follow it up on Saturday. We know [the last two results and performances] were not good enough for this football club and this group of players. We reacted in the right way.”

After their game with Forest Mark Robbins said,

“On the upside we’ve come away from home and played really well, we’d have been disappointed not to take all three points, but to come away with zero is a travesty really.

“We wanted to try and win it, I thought we were on top in the game, they were looking for whatever they could get, they would have been happy with a point at the end of it, but it wasn’t to be and we’ve just got to move on from it.

“In the circumstances with injuries and the games that we’ve got to play there was some good really positive things to take from it.”

    Team News

As stated above Watford have no new injuries reported.

Coventry do have some problems. Fankaty Dabo, Dom Hyam and Jordan Shipley
missed the trip to Forest and Matty Godden had to leave the pitch with an injury. Robbins hopes that some of them might be patched up, although Jordan Shipley will not be playing as he has been in contact with a person who has the Covid19 virus.

It is quite interesting to discover what a new set of fans are thinking after a few years of EPL comments. You sometimes have to search a bit to find out where they post their thoughts. Coventry fans are not expecting much from their trip to the Vic, although one poster thought we were slow and ponderous. I did find one piece describing how they donate and use the money for season tickets, or this season match passes for those who cannot afford to go to games. So far they have been able to spend £25,000 on keeping people in touch with the club. Must be a nice set of fans!

They don’t seem to have much hope thinking Sarr and Deeney will be too much for them.

Do I don't I is running through my head. The failure of the Hive on Wednesday did show up just how difficult it is to follow the game in real time unless you are within range of 3CR. I suspect that I will reuse my money that the club assures me will be returned. Seems that one box of electronics refused to speak to another box.

Stoke now 2-0 up - and level on points with us. Early days yet, but Reading do seem to be imploding

Apparently Stoke scored a goal that could have been offside - suppose they'll say it makes up for Wednesday.

Minor knock in training for Hughes - no idea about Wilmot. Dropped because of the errors against Stoke?

Reading still top after losing 3-0 to Stoke. Three defeats in a week, scored two & conceded nine.

Maybe I should stop complaining about us? :)
