People of this age group have a lot to answer for with this current situation.

    Sadly I can believe it.
I count myself very lucky that I do not need to use tubes, buses or trains.

    Try to stay safe sir.

People who advocate so called ‘herd immunity’ quickly change their tune when their own Granny in the local care home catches it. Fact.

Has anyone ever cared about your opinion? I mean, apart from yourself.

They say the infection figures are stabilising in the UK - an effect of the 'Tier 3' regulations, as there has not been enough time for the English 'lockdown 2' to have had an effect yet. This is hopeful news.

But France, which has draconian lockdown rules I believe, recorded 60,000 infections in the last 24 hours.
That is scary. Not far behind the USA, which has a population 6 times that of France.

Herd immunity is a distasteful subject.
It may have some scientific foundation, but the concept is emotive enough to upset a lot of people.

If you're going to keep bringing it up Sandman (and as far as I can see you are the only one who does) then expect unsympathetic responses.

And yes, I care about Royston's opinions at least to some degree - even though I don't always agree with them.

Bot over zealous with the admin Lardi. Herd immunity is a scientific fact, If the science of viruses and the truth is a problem why have these threads. Your fault for allowing emotive subjects. Why don't you head this thread "No anti lockdown comments"

ps. Does Nick get a warning for criticising posts that speak of hope?

Where does this talk of 'admin' and 'warnings' come from?

You've never been warned for anything you've posted. Not by me anyway.
All I've ever done is delete a 17 post segment of a thread, which was a very nasty row between us that added nothing to the forum. And something we were equally responsible for.
Deleting it was done simply for the good of the forum, not as a sanction just against you.

Have I asked you not to mention herd immunity or your anti-lockdown views?
    No.
All I said was if you post that kind of stuff, don't be surprised if some other members take issue with it.
So before accusing me of being too sensitive and over-reacting in future, perhaps you should consider your own replies to me.

And if / when I feel it necessary to communicate with you as a moderator (not just another member) I'll make it clear at the time.

I have to question your comments on the GDP of Sweden.

Have you bought anything made by Bang & Olufsen recently?

I read five other football forums, all have Covid threads, nobody is told that herd immunity is a distasteful subject...it's just you. My banter with Nick has nothing to do with you, so save your breath and let us be us ok.

Just a point of interest...Sweden's cities have a population density three times that of our cities. I've lived in Stockholm and it's heaving. Most people live in apartments, plus hardly anyone wore masks. I agree you can't make comparisons.. The Swede's are living normally and we're not.

ps. I do hope the use of the word Sweden doesn't offend anyone.

Everything you post in public has something to do with other members. If you don't want others commenting on things you say to one particular member, talk to them in private.

I'll say what I like to you about any subject you bring up here - I don't care what approach is taken on other football forums.
If they're all so great, why do you spend any time here at all?

Two Coronavirus threads merged into one

    Just a word of explanation;
We have had two Coronavirus threads on this forum since March.
One was originally intended for posting information only, but over time both threads just became general discussion threads.

I've read recent comments saying we have too many threads on other subjects such as Coronavirus, and not enough football / Charlton threads.
So I have merged the two Coronavirus threads into just one.
No posts have been deleted. They are all still there in order of the original date posted.

I hope this helps (even just a little) with the perception that there is too much off-topic stuff and not enough football.

    We now have
    1 Coronavirus thread
1 News & current affairs thread
    1 Brexit thread

If I notice any other duplicate subject threads that could use merging to tidy them up, I'll do that.

    Regards,
    Lardy

I thought about merging a few dozen Elfs related threads, but I think it would break the forum <steam>
Best to leave them as they are I think.
