Any enthusiasm for cup games was knocked out of me during the run we had under Ross and the disappointment that ensued. We aren't going to win the fa cup, fact, even if we get so far and play a prem side, we cannot go and watch it and for me just rubs it in re the league we are in At the very minimum we need to be a promotion chasing championship side before I get it back, and we at least as a club should be a promotion chasing championship side.
There are loads of Sunderland supporters in the Mansfield area who'll be absolutely desperate to win this game. Some of the villages have to allocate pubs during derby games so there's plenty of passion. Mags will always side with Mansfield/vice versa and it's lead to some nasty situations. If we lose this there'll be a few lads 'in quarantine' on Monday morning
Good chance to impress for the youngsters and fringe players in these next 2 cup games. Hopefully Grigg takes his chance and the likes of Neil and Diamond impress.
Don't get me wrong, i want the win. Especially the young uns to impress and give parky pause for thought. I care less what the mags think, I just want out this league.
I'm with you mate but I do care what other supporters think. I've just had a lovely photo of my 4 year old grand daughter in her Sunderland shirt and holding an MTFC football. She got it for scoring a penalty past the Mansfield keeper at Field Mill in a sponsorship thing. I want us to win just for her
Though Mansfield have not lost a league game yet this season, drawn 7 from 11. we seem to like scoring cup goals. So i am going for another 3 today and another clean sheet.
I have some relatives who live in Cotgrave, a small village near to Nottingham and on Derby days in their village it is similar, lots of Sunderland and Newcastle supporters down there who moved to work in the pits.
When we lived in Northampton our neighbour across the road from us grew up in Stoke but was originally from a Durham pit village. Her dad moved the family down there so he could get work in one of the local pits. Apparently quite a few did it back in the 50s and 60s.
4-1 to us. Incidentally the score when I last attended Roker Park with my Dad, HTL £10 paid to view. Plenty of beers in stock
Does it matter? It’s a game I really don’t care about. I’d rather we concentrated on getting out of this ****ty division.
I don't mind that, I can remember big Charlie getting stick for being **** and picked and guess what, he's came through it and is a better player for it and he's shut a lot of people up. Pleased to see them getting game time and hopefully they will do well, especially Dobson who for some reason has became the target for real hate which I despise.
