Hard to see it. As younger people get older they get richer, and pay more tax, and vote more conservatively. A huge oversimplification but you know what I mean. Plus, I'm sure the GOP will adapt to the world around them.

A lot may depend on the make up of the Senate, at present the Democrats look like coming up just short so the usual deadlock could prevail. Biden may just find the election was the easy part. I think it's reasonable odds Harris will take over before 2024...

Thing is, those on the left believe any vote for Trump means you're a right wing racist.
70 million Americans voted for Trump, many black and Hispanic.

Trump is an odious bafoon, but people vote for many different reasons.

I was talking this through with Mrs Raving the other day. The choice many voters would have faced was - betray everything I believe in (gun rights, conservative views on abortion, law and order etc) or vote for someone who is repugnant but promises to deliver law in line with my deeply held views.

You don't have to agree with those deeply held views to understand why some people choose to go with Trump despite his obvious deficiencies. And many will see two conservative supreme court justices as an end which justified their means.

To be clear, I don't agree with some/many of those individuals, but completely sympathise with their choice when I put myself in their shoes.

Stop talking utter rubbish with your snide remarks Finglas. What do you know about Bidens past? In fact what do you know about American politics or why people voted for Trump/Biden?
Are you another Vagas/Disneyland political expert?
Not than I am a Trump supporter but you seem to want Biden. What's the difference if someone wanted a Republican candidate?
As I said I don't give a to22 about it. I just don't like the way msm treated him. Move on.

Agree, he is a racist misogynist yet more black/latino men an women voted for him this time around? As a republican candidate he has excelled in certain areas and although the Republican fella on CNN had words about him after his waffle speech last night he also said he was a popular candidate.
US politics is weird and even the experts out there find it difficult to understand. I have a US friend who voted Republican and he is black school teacher from Washington.

    Excuse me Ellers.

Who the **** do you think you are talking to?

I am not a Disneyland/Vegas political expert. I have been to both of those places but only once and never again. Both are full of chavs and not my scene.

What do I know about American politics? Far more than you obviously. I lived there for a few years in New York and Nebraska and got posted out there for months on end for work. I have visited literally dozens of times, all over the country. At least twice a year the past Ten years or so.

I am not necessarily a Biden supporter. I have said very little to support him. I have great respect for many past Republican President's and I have huge respect for Mike Pence. He is the one who would have won this election before Trump. I am an anybody but Trump man. He is self obsessed, bully, racist, liar. He goes on about Communism and Socialism. The only communist I know in America is his Wife's Father who was the leader of the Communist party in his home town in Slovenia. He never mentions that. Yes, Trump got 70m plus votes so he is obviously playing to a certain market but Biden got 74+++ million votes, many of them because of Trump's behaviour and lack of respect. It is particularly pleasing to see the Black votes from Philadelphia, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Atlanta putting the final nail in his political coffin. A minority of Blacks might have voted for him and Cuban and Venezuelan Americans in Miami have also voted for him. You don't hear too many Mexican's voting for Trump. The Mexicans in Arizona, Texas, Nevada and California voted heavily against Trump because from day one of his Presidency, he has made them out to be some sort of sub human species, rapists etc. In Mexico they say, the wall is required to keep the American red necks out.

I have friends in Mexico who are still deeply offended by him calling all Mexican's rapists. I have friends living in Cuba who literally live on the breadline because of the continued American blockade of their island. Obama was normalising relations between the two countries and there was great hope things would improve for them, until Trump arrived. Before you mention the Cubans in Miami voting 70% for Trump, they are the lucky ones who had money and managed to get out. The Cubans in Cuba hate Trump for the continued blockade. My opinion on Trump is based on my own personal experiences and of how close friends of mine have suffered from his actions and slurs on them.

Anyway Ellers, you don't like anybody coming on to this thread giving an alternative viewpoint to your own. You have posted literally hundreds of pages of verbal diarrhea for a few years now. The vast majority of it, I have ignored. When anybody challenges your view, you jump down their throat to shut them up or change the subject to deflect attention. You are like Bojo's propaganda spokesperson. How many skirmishes have you had with others on this thread? Literally hundreds or maybe even thousands. That sums you up. I will not be your next victim to be bullied off this site for expressing my opinion on Trump, the great racist liar.

    I hope that is clear.

You were doing okay until the last paragraph. It sounded like Trumps waffle speech last night.
FYI you are the one who seems to have some sort of problem with me if I make fun of Biden. You then make snide remarks that I am some sort of supporter? I am not and told you plenty of times that I don't really care. I guess it has something to do with my stance on Brexit. Anyway it's not your country or mine so don't get so wound up about it. You seem to be cheering for Biden, he will win so get over it.

    Wrong again.

I couldn't give a **** about Brexit or any other form of British politics. It's done, finished.

Yes, a Biden win would suit us here just fine. One of our own. What is more pleasing is to see the back of such an obnoxious man.

Biden looking in decent nick for a 77-year-old who’s probably barely slept for days. Maybe all that stuff about him being senile was just made up by right wing noddies trying to find a way to justify backing Trump but embarrassed to just come out and admit it.

“More concerned about this clown getting in than Trump” <badger>

Up this morning at 7am, turned on the news...still no result. Am I the only person that finds it slightly ironic that the self-declared 'greatest democracy in the world', can't reach an election result three full days after an election? Pretty sure in the UK and in France you vote, you stay up late for a result or wake up the next morning to a result. I know it is a big country, and people are constantly talking about election reform...I'd just have thought the greatest democracy in the world would have sorted this out by 2020.

I agree with everything you say about Trump mate, but I re-iterate what I said before.
A sweeping statement like, "he is playing to a certain market", tends to suggest that everyone who voted for him is like him or shares all his views.
    This simply isn't accurate.
Trump has made life better for a lot of Amercans of all colours and creed. Amongst all the **** he has done some good stuff at home and abroad, where the likes of China and Russia know they can't walk all over him.
I fear Biden may be rather weak in this regard in the same way Jimmy Carter was.

Having said that, Trump had to go this time around.
He is an odious rabble rouser and America needs to be calmed down.
    Hopefully Biden can achieve this.
I really like his running mate, who's name escapes me and maybe over time she'll take over?
