Nothing wrong with that tackle & got in front of the player & got the ball & superb pass to Bonnie & the rest is history!
I'm just savouring the moment for as long as I can. That's the kind of winning goal that other teams score, not QPR: surging run, perfect cross, unstoppable header and late enough in the game to win it. And it may be premature but it seems to me that Dom Ball might become the new Clint Hill figure that we have all said the team badly needs; totally different position of course but when he's on he can be seen encouraging, cajoling, demanding and leading by example all over the pitch.
I thought ball was great when he came on, direct running and looking to make things happen, livened us up a bit to be honest
Great tackle. Didn't see any of the WRDC players moaning. Their manager went and saw the replay. Ref was in a very good position, if he had been further up the field he might have given it. End of 3 points for us.
Ball is a very solid, uncomplicated player who's underrated by many. I'd have made him captain rather than Cameron. Probably more of a Shaun Derry than a Clint Hill.
I was very critical of Warburton recently and it's surely no coincidence that we've looked much better in the last two games now that he's stopped messing with selections and formations and is playing Chair in the centre and Nico at left back. Let's hope he sticks to this, all be it allowing for the necessary changes due to the amount of games, fitness etc.
I'm still surprised he isn't a starter, I thought he'd be given the armband. Also think he's got more ability than many give him credit for.
Great improvement in the past two matches and as confidence improves augers well for us. As long as we improve we should be OK. Blackburn never easy and after their strong start have gone off the boil, a similar performance there would a fitting end to a great week...
Always good to have a win, especially against Derby! Have another coldie................ please log in to view this image
Still gives ya goosebumps doesn’t it! MW seems to be having trouble working out his best team for a given formation at the moment. I think he’s getting there, but I foresee more tinkering ahead. Agree with comments on Ball, I like him 9n the team. There are a few players who, I think, are coming to terms with the step up - Dickie is a prime example, it’s taken him a little time to adjust and he seems to be getting there. Interestingly Niko seems to be improving (albeit from a lower starting point judging from his debut). If we are buying good players we should see a quicker adjustment, but everyone learns and adapts differently. As we know, consistency has never been our strongest point. So hopefully we can see improvement over the next month - though we have a few challenging games ahead no to mention Watford and Brentford as useful ‘measuring sticks’. December looks horrific with EIGHT games in 29 days, including Bristol, Huddersfield, Millwall, Reading, Stoke, Swansea and Norwich. Hold onto your hooped underpants.
The relative youth of our team is an advantage in busy times. They should be able to run all day. (Actually, just checked and not a lot in it - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/altersschnitt/wettbewerb/GB2).
Apparently Derby being bought by a relative of Sheikh Mansour, I wonder if the stadium is included in the deal or will it be sold separately?...
