Difficult to say mate. When I first heard I thought "Well that's it for Mrs Doubtfire." Now I am not so sure. If the scenario is that Quinn refused to sack him then he had to go. That being the case then I suspect that Mr Short will be searching in earnest now that he is the chairman. He couldn't initiate this while Quinn was in post. Bruce's days are numbered but he really is a dead man walking now. I don't think there's any sympathy for him inside the club now. He will go just a matter of when a replacement is lined up. It could be tonight of it could be two weeks or so.

I really, really, really hope we don't come to regret this.

Wealthy owner with no knowledge of football becomes club chairman. I thought the reason he originally said he was going to stay in the shadows was because he respected the fact that Niall understands the game and he doesnt?

I sincerely hope that Short still consults with Niall, as he says 'it will be the same people running the club'.. I worry that without Niall's input, we'll just become 1 out of the 20 instead of Sunderland AFC.

And before the inevitable 'we have to progress, we can't accept mediocrity and standing still' - we ARE progressing. Promotion was progression 1. Survival was progression 2. Stability is progression 3. It's unrealistic to expect us to go from Championship to Champions League in four years. Top 10 might not be good enough in the next 5 years, but for now, for our club, it's an achievement.

Id be highly suprised if Short and board havent already put together a short-list (pardon the pun) for Bruces successor if he fails to impress in the next 4 games maximum!

Recon hes got till Man Unt away to save his job and i can honestly see us rooted in the relegation zone then it will be bye bye Bruce :)

Just hope the board have a GOOD list of possible candidates that have experience at winning something and they will take the plunge and pay top doller for their services and back them then you never know, we might start to feel proud of the team once more but this time for a longer period and the foreseeable future!

I agree another top 10 would be progress but if anyone think that we will finish in the top 10 with this team and Bruce as manager you are living in a dream world.

He'll be ahead of us with this, don't you worry. He has made a huge success of business and that doesn't come naturally to most people. He will have the full jigsaw in place ahead of time. Ellis Short isn't another Bob Murray or Tom Cowie. He's in a completely different league entirely. He will know what he wants and be half way there before Quinn or Bruce knew the wind had changed direction.

And why is that Parker we will be buying in Jan and free of injuries i still see us improving especially when bardsley is back from suspension.

Its only Shorts ambition for the club that decides where we will be going in the future

If he was so far ahead of Bruce and quinn, and hadn't liked Bruce from the start, then y did he agree to extend Bruce contract ? Either he is not as astute as ppl are making out, or he believes Bruce is the right man.

I'm sad to see Sir Niall leave the position of chairman... However I'm happy that he is remaining at the club in a developmental capacity and he is indeed suited to his new role better than that of the chairman. I hope that Niall continues to speak about SAFC to radio shows such as five live etc.

We can only hope that Ellis is the kind of man who likes to watch entertaining football. We can also hope that Ellis knows when it is time to take decisive action and I feel comfortable with the thought that he does. If so, the end of Bruce may be just around the corner, thank the lord.

WTF - Hasn't he got enough **** to sort out at home without pissing off to the other side the the F***** world to sell a few jerseys for a club that in all honesty he probably won't be working for by the time they've been made in some tin pot little factory in China to sell for some astronomical sum?

Semms pretty simple to e this one...

Quinn is going to try and sell the product SAFC,

Well wake up call, unless it's in the bargain department it ain't gonna sell.

Clubs like Man U etc, sell abroad, cos they have the product to sell.

Best of luck SNQ, your gonna need it, hope you got some patter,

On SSN last night, the news about quinny and also Carlo Ancellotti says he wants to manage in the EPL again - is this just coincidence?
