Match Day Thread Charlton Vs Plymouth FA Cup

Useful chance to have a look at some youngsters. A M-B, Barker, Vennings, maybe Wiredu, I'm not too well up on the U-23's. I expect one or two seniors, like JF-C, Matthews and Smyth to add a bit of experience. The best way to put it is to say that Lee Bowyer may not be quite as fired up for this one as he normally is.

 

Bowyer has said he will be fielding a weakened side. My interest in this game is minimal, tbh...

 

I'm not too fired up for it either, we have enough fixture congestion as it is. At least our cup matches are squeaky bum free.

 

But it does alleviate the tedium of lockdown..

 

The only attraction of the Cup for me is the chance to get a decent away day in the 3rd round at one of the 16 grounds I am yet to visit with CAFC. And we don’t have that this year

That's actually a pretty good back 5! And a lively front 2. They could conceivably win.

 

It would be interesting to get @sensiblegreeny 's view on the team that Plymouth will put out.

 

I would play Maddison from the start if he was fit enough. Pearce has said he won't be fit for Saturday but might be for Tuesday.

 

I agree. Technically weakened as opposed to the very best available, but still a decent XI

 

With a proper squad all singing from the same hymn sheet, every match is winnable.
