Just a great goal, great run to find the space, fantastic 1st touch, and the finish on the inside was just a mockery. Brilliant goal. I saw a little luis Suarez in that one last night.
that includes Portugal in nations lesgue. for us it’s 7 goals across 500 mins of football. Goal every 71 minutes
My guess (which is worth sod all, but I'm offering it anyway) is that Phillips will get the nod against City. Playing Williams last night was to give him some experience because we need more back-up, and also to keep Nat fresh and injury-free.
I think it'll be Nat against Man City too. I think Klopp will keep rotating Nat and Williams between PL and CL games respectively until Matip or Fabinho return.
He's got reasonable pace (something I didn't know) and wins 90% of headers, even against opposition CBs in set-peices. Joking aside, I don't want to heap too much pressure on the lad, and City will give him a far bigger test than last night. But when Fab comes back I'm inclined to put him at DM to support Joe (who is well stepping up, that **** header against W Ham apart) and VVW.
He absolutely has to be ahead of Bobby now. Shows hes rewarded for good form, shows Bobby to kick it up a notch, shows the squad no one is safe. All good things. All due respect to Bobby but he needs this. Needs the rest and needs the competition to find the motivation to get back to good form. Exactly what weve all wanted for years. Lets not make it a problem cos imo it's the complete opposite (not sayin u was btw)
For sure. Which isn’t a bad thing. Bobby needs a rest more than most atm even ignoring his poor form. This should give him the rest and a bit of a kick up the ass that his spot now isn’t 100% safe. The great thing is that having another goal threat means teams can’t just double up on mane and Salah now as leaves space for Jota. Also takes the pressure off them to score as if one is having a bad game puts pressure on the other to score. Now we have 2 others to fill in which is a nice problem to have. Early days but he seems to have settled really quickly and fitted in with team well. Speaking the language no doubt helps dramatically as well.
Ahh you make another point I forgot to mention, we now have a bit of unpredictability up front against city and the rest as the season goes on. Im loving this little "problem" tbh its bloody great
Atalanta made is easy for us to play through them but they're no mugs. This is a team that has scored around 110 goals in 40 games prior to last night. This is a team that loves to attack and score goals for fun. This was our most difficult game of the group and we swatted them.
Completely agree - the reason why the original front 3 were so dangerous is because they were all goal threats including Bobby. But he has regressed since last year and he has lost everything about it that made him dangerous. With Jota, opposition defences have more choices to make - go with Mane? Salah? Jota? I love it
Their keeper certainly helped, he over committed far too much by rushing out; the ball was placed over him in three of the five goals and Jota went around him with another.
to be fair with the 3rd is was perfectly weighted pass so keeper either stays on his line and is left with 1v1 or try come and out and get the ball / narrow the angle. Agree that he went down easy (ooer). Wonder if that was spoken about pre match as most of the shots were aimed high which worked well.
