Unusual to hear straight talking from a footballer in an interview, usually it's the same old safe cliched sound bites that make my eyes glaze over instantly.

    On reflection I'd agree.

He links up well with Gooch and the two of them seem to be developing a style down that side.

I have a feeling Sanderson will get into the side, sooner or later, on the right side ...

... either in defence or in O’Nien's position.

I'm of the opinion that it is obviously very harsh when a penalty is given when a player gets the ball blasted at their hand from point blank range............when its the opponent who blasted it. I have less sympathy when a penalty is given when the ball is blasted at him by his own player. That player should have been more careful, he should not have blasted the ball at his own player, but as a result the defending team may have getting an unfair advantage. I'm not convinced myself of this but wonder what anybody else thinks? Our penalty last night was obviously harsh, I dont think it should have been given, but are there times when a handball given at close range is justified?

I agree, and think O/9 should be moved into midfield, his energy reminds me a lot of Jordan Henderson, and his passing is excellent, but the biggest plus is he is dangerous in front of goal as well, he has been an amazing signing all considered.

I thought the red card was soft until I saw this photo.

Both feet off the ground, studs up and out of control ...

    ... that's a red.

    And stupid.

It was a pointless tackle, under the nose of the referee, on a player who isn't at all dirty.

Yeah - I posted that during the game because I thought Grant just fell over but it was dangerous.

first glance in game time...thought it was harsh, looking at that picture it could have caused real damage...ref had a far far better view than me to be honest and even from in game view he did appear to be 'off the ground'.

there again, i do not agree with all these soft penalties being handed out now, guess i need to get used to soft as ****e players and refs.

Yep red for me, but Pen is a joke, it just makes football look stupid

VAR and offside by a millimetre... can it be said with that degree of certainty the precise moment when the pass was made... its impossible to do so, therefore the offside should have a margin of error cos there is a grey area for the timing

The lad did look genuinely shocked and upset about the red so I'm leaning towards it being reckless and clumsy rather than outright violent, but I don't fancy their chances with an appeal, you could hardly say the ref got it wrong.

Two footed, both feet in the air, heavy contact made. Red.

Their lad didn't go flying in, two-footed, like some horror challenges you see.

Those innocuous-looking ones can easily be leg breakers though. Over the top of the ball kind of thing.

It was a pointless challenge in that area of the pitch imo ...

... Leadbitter was hardly going to sprint away from him <laugh>

totally agree, but this is what happens when technology is used to decide things...very few of these VAR calls have been on 'clear and obvious' mistakes/missed by the ref yet we were all given this line when it was rolled out...i said before as it looked like VAR was here to stay then at least it would cut down on the cheating divers within the game, it has had the exact opposite effect, much like the gnats pubic hair offside calls 'any contact' is deemed a foul so they go down appealing and these ridiculous hand balls such as diers are just plain mental.

Yep I hoped it would do the same, refs still seem very keen to give a foul when the player 'feels a touch and falls over,'

In, Rugby, cricket and tennis by and large they have got it right and usually show it on a big screen, so fans know what is going on.

love watching rugby at times...these big blokes who just get on with the game when a decision goes against them, very, very few attempts at cheating and that is more down to a different view han trying to cheat...yet football, a contact sport where contact is a no-no.
