Probably late to this, but what positions do Armstrong and Redmond/Theo actually play for us? I’d say they’re LM and RM, but I’ve heard Ralph call them 10s (a 10 to me is behind the striker) and when saints type it out on Twitter they always go: CM, CM, Armstrong, Redmond, rather than Armstrong, CM, CM, Redmond. I’ve got time on my hands to be thinking of this
If we assume a 4-2-2-2 formation with the central 4 operating a fluid lozenge across and behind (and sometimes in front of) the front 2, their actual positions don't really fit into the traditional classifications.
In fact we saw on Sunday that Stu and Theo were often playing through the middle, with Danny or Che out wide. Our 4th goal was set up like that. I think Ralph is a secret exponent of 1970's Dutch Total Football, and the fact that Danny Ings is often found tracking back as far as our own goal line during open play, renders traditional positions irrelevant
Anyone remember the last time a win would send us top? Reckon Alex would actually have a decent chance of Cruyff turning Joelinton mind.
Finally got Bien Sports into our Desert Camp here in Saudi. Means l can watch some of the EPL games now (not all as before when in Dubai). l will get to watch the game this Friday! So pumped, l do have here my black Virgin Media away shirt, freshly washed and hung on a hanger ready for the game!!
