Not Burnley, but Barnsley, the name conjures up images of a fine traditional club....steeped in Yorkshire mysticism! Dickie Bird, Darren Gough and of course cow pats etc. Once faced city in an FA .cup semi final and got absolutely hammered....they did! We need a win badly, city doesn’t give Masky a massive stiffy anymore....it’s all gone limp down there! Woodrow likely to score against us, but expect a 6-1 win! :emoticon-0103-cool:

    Bollocks, tidy yourselves up boys!

Yeah that was a good day out, especially as the Barnsley team coach pulled up beside ours at traffic lights somewhere in London on the way home. Let's just say they got some stick!!

Cardiff v Barnsley is a good fixture for those with a broad home accent.

Barnsley are showing themselves to be no push over and they have a few goals in them. Much will depend on who is in midfield for us but we need to play with energy from the off regardless. Is there a lot riding on this for Harris since he's got the full support of the board?<whistle>

Not a well known ref - Dean Whitestone. Took charge of our horror defeat at Stoke last season.

It’s on the red button so an escape from Laurel & Hardy on City TV.

Chaplin, Mowatt and Woodrow are certainly a force to be reckoned with.

It's not on the red button - it's on Sky Sports Arena,

Don't know if that'll make any difference to the camera work and picture quality, but there are no red button games tonight.

Got you, but it’s still got to be better than those 2 on City TV:emoticon-0105-wink:

Ps you’re right about those Barnsley players, you just know Woodrow will score<doh>

Nin - there are three stooges usually involved in the club TV/audio broadcasts - Mark Denham, Ashley James and John Donovan.

Personally I like them for their partisan attitude toward the club, but must admit there can be a degree of <doh><doh> sometimes. <laugh>

Thought it was better when Cunningham had a guest spot. The player's perspective made it more interesting - once you got used to his accent and speech pattern - so it is. <doh>

Couldn't understand him - like Roy Keane on Prozac.

They had under 23 coach Steve Morison as guest commentator for the Boro game and he was very informative as well as intelligible.

Going slightly off topic but have to get it out there- my favourite commentators were Hugh Johns and Barry Davies. Of the present bunch I can’t stand Martin Tyler.

Martin Tyler mutters too much. Nice guy but he goes off on a tangent during games muttering about inconsequential things from history. He must have got a file of notes in front of him because no one could remember some of the things he comes up with from just memory.

It may be interesting to some but he waffles on and his voice dips below the audible especially if the game is in front of a real crowd or even the Sky Sports manufactured rubbish. I want a sharp eyed commentator with a clear and distinctive voice - Barry Davies would also do for me.

If he needs some help with this, Clingon’s the man! No offence intended pal! :emoticon-0103-cool:

Barry Davies for me too. Always preferred him to Motson. Much too smug. Another one with a filo fax of info in front of him.

Met John Motson at Cheltenham races once, sheepskin cost and a bit of a punter! Nice enough, bit boring, but as a city fan we accept that! Also met Richard O’Sullivan, gave everyone a book, autographed of course but he didn’t seem to want Masky’s for some reason. Believe or not on the same table was Mick of Dave .Dee, Dozy, Mick and Tich! He said put all your money on a horse called Hold Tight....twat! :emoticon-0103-cool:

OK, back to the game tonight and opinions - here's mine.

I think we can win this comfortably. Score the first goal for a change (and during the first half as well), and then go on and finish the job in the second period.

Why am I so confident? Looked at the betting and once again we are favourites with crap odds to win the game at the final whistle <doh>. Then I thought what if we could take the lead for a change, so I looked at the offering for a HT/FT result.

    Hmmm.........5/2 against seems reasonable, so................

Met Kenneth Wolstenholme at Chepstow Races once. Just after the last race. He said it was all over.

Nice guy but strange red suit.

I admire your confidence Sparks. Or is it blind faith?

Take the lead? In the first half? At home? When did that last happen?

    Hull, 22nd July.

With a home crowd, Stoke, 26th November last year, Bacuna. Nearly a year. F**k me.
