I've thought long and hard and I've worked out the perfect reception.

Remember when Beckham played against Man Utd for the first time? Applauded when he came on, booed whenever he touched the ball, applauded after the game. The perfect reception IMO.

What we shouldn't hear is any "Phil Brown is a ****er" or any other "witty" chants. Let's show a bit of appreciation and not act like a bunch of sanctimonious bitter bastards.

And even the booing of Beckham was good natured. Sort of pantomime booing. People had smiles on their faces.

So when Ashbee makes that rash, potentially injury causing challenge on a player like Koren for example, are you going to give him a round of applause?
I for one will be out of my chair screaming for a booking and calling him all sorts of unpleasant things.
Let us not forget the service he gave our club I agree, but also don't forget he is now a PNE player. There is no senitment for me until he retires!!
Brown will get a round of applause from me before the whistle. Once again sentiment will come after the game, but certainly not during!!
No santimonious bitterness from me, it is football!!

Exactly, granted it was probably easier for the Man Utd fans with them being 4-0 up at the time (I think)

More or less what I was saying... I just don't think it should cross the line into mindless abuse.

Where has this idea that Ashbee is really dirty come from? He's an unaesthetic hardworking midfielder and people automatically associate that with being a dirty tackler. They aren't the same thing at all. He is there to make interceptions more than tackles. He only got sent off about 3 or 4 times in 9 years for us, which is a good record for a player in his position, and hardly any of those were for bad tackles, more for going psycho and nutting someone ;)

It is exactly his unaesthetic hard working approach that makes him rash. I never once said he was dirty!
Mark my words he will make a challenge that wil get him booked, simply because he will have point to prove.
No nonsense footballer - yes, dirty - no. But all the same it will be a bookable offence and he will go in fully committed!
Can we really afford to loose Fryatt, Barmby or Koren through injury? NO!

We can Barmby, I'd probably applaud that. The other two are quite good though.

I see your point, and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he did get booked due to being over-aroused and up for it. However I think it's unlikely that he'll injure anyone, as unlikely as it is with any other player.

You'd applaud us losing Barmby? I took you off the ignore list to give you another chance TWF but you still talk absolute ****e mostly. By the way, are you still claiming that we have had only one good performance this season? The best reception for Brown would be a round of applause at the start of the match, but mine will be in appreciation of Ash and Horton as much as Brown.

agreed..at most other clubs, this would go without saying, unfortunately we are hull city, and what they both achieved with us is nothing, due to our long history of winning trophies and dominating europe......therefore, they will probably get a lukewarm reception..

I imagine we played well against Scunthorpe. It's up to two.

First half against Leeds it was decent, but I can't call losing a two goal lead a good performance.

TWF what a load of ****e you talk! 'I imagine we played well at Scunthorpe' so you obviously didn't go? Then you have the nerve to slag off Barmby who came on and was involved in 2 of the goals we scored in the 2nd half.
    You've haven't got a clue sunshine!!

Show appreciation before the game for Ash, Horton and the Browns but then be ruthless during it. If Ashbee starts throwing his weight about i'm sure Gerrard will get involved. As for Barmby i agree with the comment i heard in the stand last week, that things seem to happen for City when he comes on late in games. Deserves another year on his contract if he wishes to continue playing.

Will be interesting to see what Ash's attitude is like during the game... could wind up the fans if the tackles are too heavy!

Can agree with most of your post... we need to show respect & appreciation before he game, but be passionate for the City team throughout the game.... so my chanting will be supporting the lads, Nige Pearson & the Allams.

For the good of the rest of the posters sanity can you at least explain your complete utter dislike for NIck Barmby.

Ok well clearly your a 12 year old 'supporter' who jumped ship from manchester utd to city when we got promoted. The fact you slag can off barmby for being one of our best performers this season clearly proves this. Please, get back to your school work and leave these boards untainted with the bullshit you post. Thanks.

    Observant.

I have done a thousand times, mainly his "holier than thou" attitude.

You've found me out, can't believe it took this long.

As it happens I have GCSE Social Education lesson this afternoon, mainly focusing on diversity, y'know understanding different opinions, cultures and what not. Fancy joining?
