Did you manage to use your "put put" to get to Palaiokastrista ? Smashing place - as was Corfu town (met Anthony Quinn & Jaqueline Bisset one lunchtime in a small village just North of Kerkyra when they were filming "The Greek Tycoon"). They were playing chess on the next table to us. Very pleasantly chatted to the missus & myself.
Circuited the whole island one day on the old moped.- even took some illegal pix of Albania. Crazy toilets they have there- squat and dump, while swishing away the bluebottles.
We did the same - circuit that is. Kassiopia was an interesting old monks estate if I recall. Think they had a vinyard/distillery which gave away free samples. Only time I ever refused a free drink 'cos of having to drive that bloody moped back to our hotel back in town. That was in the mid 70's too - soft bastard I was, but the missus was with me (on her own transport of course). Edit. Yep, the view of the spectacular mountains of Albania were impressive. Hard to imagine what was going on (mostly bad) with the inhabitants across the water at that time.
So anyway, I like potatoes. They're nice and you can do all sorts of things with them. You can boil them, you can mash them and you can make chips and even make a Patty.
Actually kemps, sorry. It seems that someone rode a moped through my theory and it is possible to have too many cans.
Ah, but do you know why we call them 'tins' even though they're made in a cannary? And did you know, we had cans of beer on these Isles over 1,000 years ago? https://www.grammarphobia.com/blog/2009/11/yes-we-can.html
The health service is getting ready to administer COVID-19 vaccines before Christmas if a jab is ready, NHS England's chief executive has said. He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "There are over 200 vaccines in development and we believe that we should hopefully get one or more of those available from the first part of next year. "In anticipation of that we're also gearing the NHS up to be ready to make a start on administering COVID-19 vaccines before Christmas, if they become available." He said an "agreement" has been reached with GPs to ensure this will happen. He added: "We will be writing to GP practices this week to get them geared up to start by Christmas if the vaccine becomes available."
Fatality rate for hospitalised Covid patients has halved in second wave in UK, was 30 per cent, now 15 per cent.
The director of the Oxford vaccine trial says there is a "small chance" a jab will be ready before Christmas.
Obviously good news but presumably it puts even more pressure on beds? Do you have to quarantine for a fortnight?
Other than riding my bike for next month (I'll do a bit for you GLP) Can someone explain the lockdown of golf courses, driving ranges... As I understand it, you can exercise with one person from outside your bubble as long as its outside .... ???...
The news we have been dreading is here – golf courses, facilities and driving ranges in England will be closed during the nationwide lockdown until 2nd December, England Golf has confirmed.
