I been to Finland a few times on 30 April when they celebrate the start of summer at 6 pm. By 10 pm the streets are packed with people leaning against the walls trying to stay standing.
I know a lad who had a business in Spain for years. He said that although us Brits had a bad reputation the Finns were more unpopular with the local bar owners. The Russians were catching up fast.
Finns are known for their drinking prowess. I lived in Copenhagen a while back and the Danes were in awe of Finnish drinking capabilities.
Ih yeah, forgot about the bloody Russians, they drink a lot of spirits & beer, also can’t stand up much.
The Czechs are the biggest consumers of alcohol per capita in Europe. We, despite all the hysterical outpourings from Public Health England are 13th. Worth remembering when hearing the usual demands for duties an taxes on alcohol to increase that 42% of duties raised on beer in the EU are in the UK. In Germany, the country which drinks the most beer it is 8%.
One good thing at the moment is I did not get one demanding money with menaces, sorry trick or treat. visit last night.
They're still pissed off with Garibaldi assisting in the unification of all those city states into the Kingdom of Italy. Still rebelling against authority. Salute
Continental Europeans are just more rebellious in spirit and less likely to do as they're told with no questions asked. Not like cap-doffing Brits who do a lot of whinging and grumbling whilst still being compliant and servile.
Yes, the Germans and Italians showed that in the 1930s and the Spanish for decades up to Franco's death, didn't they?
You mean following a civil war, with armed worker paramilitaries? And yeah, there were assassinations of Francoist ministers by anarchists, Basque separatists and dissidents up to Franco's death. There were strong anti-fascist movements in both Italy and Germany but they were the first ones thrown into the camps because of the threat they posed. Like I said, Brits do a lot of complaining, but little action when it comes to change. Servility is praised as stoicism in this country.
