Hes had a few opportunities and hasn't done much, I honestly think his poor penalty that he missed in the cup game set him back, he seems that fragile. To me he still looks half arsed whenever he plays.
We don’t need him to be in it for the long haul though mate. If we can get two years out of him to mentor a young gun then that would suffice. He could then either transition into an upstairs role or retire. The key in the short term is to get the structure right and get the next two windows correct.
Yeah I did think that, you could see him getting things sorted and handing over the reins. I'm just not sure he'd fancy it, I get the feeling if he took another job it'd be something more prestigious or with the promise of prestige in the near future. Throw enough money his way and who knows what he'd be up for, quite a bit probably
Pay him premiership wages and he would be tempted. The time we should have got him is when we gave Sbragia the role full time after his caretaker stint, remember him saying publicly he wanted the job at the time.
Can’t see where he said goalposts moved m8? Might have deleted it? Been saying 9th since middle of last week mind it was someone called Freddie the Greek just announced it, dunno if he’s connected or just a rumour
He would aye and if we know anything about him other than he's a damn good manager it's that he likes money. I just don't see it as a great fit, I'd rather get some young and idealistic manager in who buys into the club heart and soul and has the financial backing to make it a reality. I'm a bit split because I think Sam is great but I'd probably be looking elsewhere.
IF and I am saying IF we had to part company with PP because we were falling off the pace and we followed a fellow posters suggestion of a Cook/Reid management change , Grigg may respond and the point I was making is that they may be able to turn him round it’s been done before - Apart from anything else what would we have to lose , he’s our player , here’s here , so what would we have to lose !
I know what you mean about prestige, but Sam likes the coin. Pay him enough and he’d come if he could see a plan and opportunity.
I really don’t understand this love affair with Nigel. He’s done nothing of note in his entire managerial career so why would that change if he came to Sunderland?
I think that Phillips should be given a crack at it. At least he'll play more attacking football that Parkinson, he'd be relativity cheap on the wages front and get an older head in as the DoF (McClaren, Alladyce, Reid), all pie-in-the-sky I know!!
