Our approach when leading clearly needs to change Sitting back on a 1-0 lead with ten minutes to go is one thing, sitting back after going 1-0 up in the first ten minutes is quite another
Tottenham forward Gareth Bale speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a great feeling. You just want to come on and do a job for the team. I worked for the team and was lucky enough to get the goal. "It was obviously great play from Sergio Reguilon and I was in the right place at the right time. It's nice to get off the mark. "Everyone always talks about individuals but I've always said I’m a team player, I'd be happy coming on doing a job even if it's defending. The most important thing is the collective. "We are growing every game. Even if we make mistakes we are learning from them and we can only use that as a positive. I haven’t played a lot of football. I had a little problem with my knee so it’s taking a bit of time. I am working hard in training and when I get chances." On Tottenham competing for the title: "Very competitive, we know not to get too carried away. There are some great teams, we are just going to keep working as hard as we can."
Tottenham striker Harry Kane: "We said it was a great chance to go second in the league and put ourselves up there. We had to grind it out. "I'm delighted for Gaz to come on and make an impact and that's what we need to win games. He's had a mini pre-season with us, it's about getting fit and sharp, we all know what he can do at the highest level. "Every game he'll get stronger, we need every player to make an impact. "We have let points slip and today could have been similar but we are learning - these games are the ones you need to grind out."

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho speaking to BBC MOTD: "I was not surprised because I knew they were a very good team, with a good coach capable of doing what they did. Graham Potter is a very good coach. "They have lots of good players and they caused us some difficulties. I believe it is more fair to say the teams with less history and stature if you want to say, they are getting better and better. "It was a great reaction after they equalised, we hit the post twice, score and after that it was a question of managing the game well, like we didn’t against West Ham." On Brighton’s goal: “I have to try and stay away from this. I don’t know what to say at the moment. My opinion is that I miss my old football, but with goal-line technology because it is obvious that it helps the game." On Gareth Bale and an inspired substitution: "The players are the ones not me. I know for a couple of weeks that I am telling you that Gary [Bale] is improving. "I know he doesn't have 90 minutes in his legs and the good thing with him is he is very intelligent, experienced and he understands and we have dialogue to choose what is best for the team. "In the Premier League today he came and scored a winning goal which is great feeling for the team, him and the fans. We keep fighting and we are in a good position in the table."
I think the pressure got to him...looked perplexed It’s a poor do...they all seem to want to pass the buck. The thing is before VAR I bet he would have seen it himself on the pitch...he was yards away...refs have become lazy and are hiding
Three assists in seven games for Reggie. Making sure we don't get too complacent by saying Hojbjerg's been our best signing so far.
Tottenham forward Gareth Bale to MOTD: "It's a great feeling, you want to make a difference as a sub and it's nice to score again in a Tottenham shirt. You wish the fans were there. "The manager said just try and make a diference. You have to be ready when you're on the bench. "I haven't scored since January but it's only about five games! It sounds worse in months. "It's great to get that scoring feeling back again, hopefully I can kick on from here. There are a lot of good teams around. we are not getting carried away. We have no doubt we have the quality to compete." MOTD2 is on Bbc1 in 5 minutes btw
Good grief we had the opportunity to go second but as usual we buggered it up. How spursy! Good grief we weren't playing well but Brighton got one of the most ridiculous ref decisions leading to their goal, and we ended up losing as a result. How spursy! Except of course we didn't. Because spursy doesn't exist. But don't worry, the next time that something goes wrong, someone will call it spursy.
