    Brentford v Swansea City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Date - 3 November 2020
    Kick off - 19.00
    Venue - Brentford Community Stadium

Following their efficient 2-0 home victory over Blackburn Rovers, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a trip to Brentford’s new Community Stadium.

Three months on from their Championship playoff semi-final, Brentford and Swansea are already showing signs of being well-equipped to launch another bid for promotion to the Premier League.

Although Brentford have not been able to show the same kind of consistency as their next opponents, a return of 10 points from their last five matches has kept them in the mix.

Swansea have not consistently produced the goods in the final third since the start of September, but Steve Cooper has put together a well-balanced squad at the Liberty Stadium.

The style and mentality of the two clubs should make for an intriguing encounter, particularly with the Bees having rediscovered their ruthless touch against Luton Town in their last outing.

Last Saturday, the Swans showed a clinical touch to earn a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers and move second in the Championship.

A pair of firm headers - from Ben Cabango in the first half and Andre Ayew in the second - proved the difference for the home side.

Rovers, who came into the contest as the Championship's top scorers, missed a host of chances and will feel they should have earned a point.

They fall to 14th with 10 points from nine games, eight behind Swansea.

Swansea were unbeaten in their previous three home league matches against Blackburn since a 1-0 defeat in October 1983, while Blackburn were also winless in five games against the Swans going back to a 2011 Premier League win.

The home side had also lost just one of their past 11 Championship games across two seasons, while Rovers boss Tony Mowbray had never beaten the Swans in the league in six previous attempts as a manager.

Whilst the Swans were beating Blackburn, Ivan Toney's fine goalscoring form continued as he netted his ninth goal in seven games as Brentford eased to victory over Luton at Kenilworth Road.

Rico Henry gave the Bees an early lead with a low left-footed shot from the edge of the box after a Sergio Canos cross was blocked.

Canos was also at the heart of the second goal as his excellent ball to Bryan Mbeumo allowed the Bees forward to drive into the penalty area and square for Toney to tap in.

Substitute Marcus Forss sealed the win late on as he lifted the ball over the onrushing Simon Sluga having been put through by fellow replacement Mathias Jensen.

The win saw Brentford leapfrog Luton and move up to ninth place, while the Hatters are a point behind in 13th position.

The Swans have played the Bees on 88 previous occasions, winning 34, losing 32 with 22 drawn matches.

In the corresponding Championship fixture held on Boxing Day last season, Brentford ran out comfortable 3-1 winners:

Turning to Tuesday evening, whilst the Swans will be determined to get revenge for their Play-Off defeat and wipe that smug grin off Thomas Frank’s chops, I suspect that Brentford will ultimately prove too strong and will again run out 3-1 winners.... I truly hope I’m wrong <cheers>

Thanks again Taff. I would love us to put one over on Frank (as would Connor) but I think this might be one away game too many. 2-1 to Brentford - please let me be wrong!!

I think we all expected Brentford to be good this year and they are coming into form from the recent displays.

it will be a tough call on Tuesday so hoping for the best and expecting the worst.

Tactics need to be spot on, expecting Grimes and Bennett back , any others?

So are we I might hasten to add , would you change a winning side unless its forced . We looked pretty strong all over so maybe a tweak or two to keep everyone on their toes but for Grimes I'm not so sure , we seemed to move up the pitch quicker yesterday without him. Tough call and game all the same

It was interesting that Cooper tinkered with the side yesterday. I thought the lad Bennett had a decent game on Tuesday and he replaces him with Cabango. I wouldn’t be surprised if he changes Naughton for Bennett.

Thanks Taff.....a hard game yes....they all are in this division. If we carry on our excellent away form bar Coventry we can get a positive result here...

Early days yet so I'm trying hard not to get carried away, but who ever comes in seems to slot in seamlessly . Considering it was only Naughtons second start I thought defensively we looked strong but I wouldn't disagree with that change if only to keep players fresh

That's my call for Tuesday Nev. Bennett came off the previous Tuesday as he was feeling the pace a bit. So with his rest on Saturday I would think he is ready to go tomorrow. If we can keep it tight at the back then we can come away with a point (or 3)

Brentford are having a bit of a mixed bag of results and they've lost Watkins & Behrama. We are more than capable of beating everyone in this league on the day.

    Tricky game to predict...so I won't. :emoticon-0138-think
