please log in to view this image Sunday 1st November 7.15pm Premier League Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Two poor performances and one bad result and we're onto our third game in seven days. Our latest attempt to win a home league game comes against Brighton at the ludicrous time of 7.15pm. It's also the first of two consecutive Box Office matches that you can watch for £14.95. Or not. We take on a side that's also struggling for form, but scoring fairly freely. Can Mourinho get the team to raise their game for this one or will the week end in disappointment? Brighton started last season with raised expectations, having replaced Chris Hughton in the summer Graham Potter joined from Swansea, having impressed at Ostersund in Sweden and done well in Wales. They played some decent football at times and got some big wins, but their overall form was erratic. They spent a lot of the campaign in 15th place, but rarely looked like going down or pushing on. It was largely seen as a success and a transition to more progressive football. They've started this weird season in a similar vein, despite only winning one league game. A tough post-match loss to Utd and defeats to Everton and Chelsea may skew their early look, though. They've been both scoring and conceding late goals and it's very hard to tell their overall level. Most of their fans would probably be quite happy with a repeat of the previous year. Signs of improvement would be welcomed, of course, but their limited budget may restrict that. This fixture in the last campaign was our Boxing Day match and we came close to being the turkeys. Kane had a goal disallowed for offside via VAR, but we struggled overall in the first half. They took the lead from a dubious set-piece before the break, as Webster headed home a Gross free-kick. A scrappy move allowed Kane to nick an equaliser, having been given a second bite from his initial shot. Alli then gave us the win with a brilliant finish with about 20 minutes to go, though we couldn't build on it: The away trip was one of our worst performances of the season, starting disastrously and never getting better. Hugo Lloris dropped an early cross, injuring himself badly in the process and allowing Maupay to score. Aaron Connolly added a second before the break and they were fully deserving of that lead. The youngster added a third just after the hour and we never looked like getting back into it. Four more winless games and Pochettino was gone: Dier and Ndombele missed out on the trip to Antwerp, but should return. Tanganga is still injured. Jahanbakhsh and Andone are out for the visitors, while Propper, Walton and Izquierdo face late tests. Dunk is suspended, having been sent off against Palace for Serious Foul Play. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Doherty, Alderweireld, Dier, Davies; Sissoko, Hojbjerg; Moura, Ndombele, Son; Kane. Subs: Hart, Rodon, Reguilon, Lo Celso, Lamela, Bale, Vinicius. League form: LWDWDW. Brighton: Ryan; Webster, Burn, Veltman; Lamptey, White, Bissouma, March; Lallana, Trossard; Maupay. Subs: Steele, Bernardo, Alzate, Gross, Mac Allister, Welbeck, Connolly. League form: LWLLDD. Ref: Graham Scott. VAR: Jonathan Moss. TV: Pay per view nonsense. How would you like to line up for this one and what would you change from the Antwerp game? Would you stick with much of the same lineup, make a few changes or go for a wholesale switch? Which system and tactics would you use and what are you expecting Brighton to go with?
I think it's safe to say Dele won't be in the squad. Winks, Sanchez and Aurier also missed out on selection for the Burnley game and I don't think any of them have done much to convince Jose to get back in. Rodon's gonna need to start and play some games seeing as he can't play in Europa at the moment so I'd like to see him given a chance, albeit I doubt it'll happen. Despite being below par I'd give Bale a start in the league, he's only going to get properly fit with minutes and starting with the first choice XI will probably be better for him than being in a disjointed B team where the team chemistry isn't as strong. I'd like to see: Hugo Doherty, Rodon, CB, Reguilon Sissoko, Hojbjerg, Ndombele Bale, Kane, Son Though I think we'll see: Hugo Doherty, Toby, Dier, Reguilon Sissoko, Hojbjerg, Ndombele Lucas, Kane, Son
Wouldn't start Bale...yesterday showed how lacking in match fitness he is but think your point is very valid. Agree with the rest of your team...would put Davies in as the other CB.
Was st the Brighton match in 2019 at new WHL. They time wasted for 89 minutes til we scored through Eriksen...was one of the most appalling anti football performances I have seen live and I was zt that Burnley game at Wembley when they did the same.
Hopefully we've learned after the last couple of games to ditch the inverted wingers malarky We've had two Portuguese managers in our history, and it's not good to notice areas where their tactics start to become identical
Burnley was Skippy’s first start wasn’t it? I was right behind the goal we scored the winner in and I remember going absolutely beserk after the ****e we’d watched them pull for the entire game. Was tipping it down as well IIRC and was basically freezing. Decided to wait for the bus home down Harrow Road instead of braving the tube for some unfathomable reason and got home shivering and looking like a drowned rat. Good times haha
You must have been near me...was on the aisle about 15 rows back...got a great photo of a guy in front giving Hart dogs abuse after we scored cos of all his time wasting
Sounds about right. You may even have snapped me if the guy was mid-20s haha. I was giving him dogs abuse by the end
Nope not me, I didn’t have the luxury of a hat that day but I was definitely in that vicinity. Maybe slightly in front of you
I can’t remember exactly tbh mate, it’s not where I usually sat for Wembley league games. the ticket is in a folder back in the UK with all my other Spurs tickets and programs or I’d dig it out and check for you right now. I wonder how many of us have passed each other at matches and been completely unaware Particularly in the new stadium where you can go all around it once you’re in.
Who is going to PPV tonight ? Not me I'm going old school and sitting by the TV waiting for Ceefax to upload and listening to my new CD player with the only disc I've got, Brothers in arms , might even try one of those cans of beer with the widgets in them ......COYS Edit : I already pay too much for Sky and BT via my phone contract , no way am I paying to see a PPV
No way am I paying ... took out a direct debit to Refuge (domestic violence charity) instead. Read it increased massively under lockdown.
Must win today...got to keep up Will we be lethargic or will we be firing after a kick up the backside
Working til 10:30pm so radio for me. Tbh even if I was at home I wouldn’t pay £14.95 to watch one game of football. It’s disgusting
