Stiepermann needs a run of games to get fully into his groove. You commented that Farkeball is back; Marco was the reason. Pukki and Buendia are different players when Marco's on the pitch. When the new boys are equally at home playing with him, we will be hard to stop.

That was true in the first half, especially with the through ball for the first goal, but his down side was giving the ball away when a pass was a better option and his shooting is still awry. With more match time he could be back to his best hopefully. I thought the long passes from Sorenson and Gibson for the second and third goals were sublime and provided another dimension to our play.

Yes, both excellent. We have lacked accuracy with that length of pass in previous games. Sørensen has really impressed in the circumstances.
Teams have been set up to stop our passing on the ground. Now they will have to rethink their defensive strategy.
It's not a new strategy, and it certainly wouldn't work against teams who defend deep against us. It worked yesterday because Bristol, lacking their most able and experienced CB, Alfie Mawson, left themselves exposed. Dean Holden said as much after the game.
That's true unless we score the first goal, which is what we did yesterday, meaning that Bristol couldn't sit back. That increased when we scored the second, though they pulled one back. The key could lie in scoring first against Millwall and Swansea, so the the long pass becomes viable.
Bristol aren't a team who sit back; they standardly set up 3:5:2, holding a high line and minimising play in their defensive third. That wouldn't be a sensible strategy unless they were normally adept at dealing with the type of long ball which undid them yesterday. Mind you, the balls and the movement were so good they would trouble any defenders!
Lots of positives for me from yesterday's game Unbeaten run extended to 5 games, sooner or later we will lose, but it won't be the end of the world. We remain in a playoff position and 1 point of an auto position Hanley & Gibson partnership continues to grow, Hanley almost cleared BC's goal off the line. Pukki showing signs of getting his confidence back. Buendia seems to have curtailed his attitude a bit and appears to want to let his football do the talking. Skipp, Gibson, Sorensen, Hugill, Dowell & Placheta all showing early signs of good business and appear to have settled in well. No sign of the nonsense that was said about DF losing the dressing room and team spirit remains strong. As DF said would happen things are improving now that the uncertainty created by the transfer window has gone and the new players have started to settle in. I could go on, but I won't, other than to say you can all thank me for the win as I forgot to post my usual 3 - 1 city win for the prediction league.
To add to those, the biggest positives for me were the return of Stiepermann and a reversion to attacking through the middle. I hope we now stick with both when Quintilla returns at LB.
I agree that should be the priority, but a variety of attacks keeps the opposition guessing. Quintilla's low crosses can be very effective at drawing out a defence and longer passes into space can also pull the defence out of shape. Once the new players are fully integrated the understanding between players will develop further. The element of surprise was a factor in all 3 goals against Bristol.
