...it'd be great to get some feedback on how the team played - both together and individually. Made it a bit easier... Lonngers - Connolly- Lees - O'Dea - White - Snods - Clayton - Howson - Pugh - Keogh - McCormack (Luc) - (Mika) - (Forsell) - Tactics - SG - Cheers! MOT
Lonngers - 7 Made a great save 2nd half Connolly- 8 Good at the back and linked up great with snoddy Lees - 7 looked alot better than at fullback but will not come up against a weaker strikeforce all season O'Dea - 7 not in any trouble White - 8 very good again, and who said he couldnt defend Snods - 8 Looked fit and hungry Clayton - 6/7 Did well but not one of his better games Howson - 8 Played his best all season Pugh - 7 Played well Keogh - 6 Tried but was poor quality in the 2nd half McCormack - 7 Busy and always a threat (Luc) - 6 fell over alot (Mika) - 7 looked hungry and closed down well (Forsell) 5 didnt have long to get into game Tactics - 8 Perfect formation with the perfect players for it, our subs seem to distrupt our play but dont think anyone could say they wouldnt have used the subs the same way SG - Still gormless as ever
Glad it was you who answered my call, mate! Got a 'lol' out of me for Becchio's analysis!! Things are looking up... hopefully! Just a defender and a midfielder away from completion to my eyes...
it is awful wen u cant get to games anymore---the good fans who do tell us what way things went---i look forward to reading
what type of midfielder would you bring in and who would they replace, i think our midfield looks quite good at the moment And cheers for the analysis LIW.
I think it was Howson moving out to the right that caused the disruption and meant we didn't keep the ball as well.
Was snoddy playing a free role again a little like he did against brighton though which meant we were pretty much playing 3 in midfield with snoddy roaming and getting back when he could. If that was the case, thats probably why howson kept drifting wider, to cover.
Howson was switched to the right when Vayrynen came on. Are you changing your opinion of Aidy White yet, Josh?
didnt get to see the game but heard he had a good one. Didnt do too badly against brighton i suppose, i dunno what it is, i just dont think he is confident enough to run at defenders and i think if he did, he would cause some serious problems. Maybe as i watch him more, i'll be more impressed
Lonngers - 7 coped fine with everything, calm under pressure, came for crosses Connolly- 8 not quite match fit but definately had a good game and helped Snoddy by getting forward. Lees - 8 very comfortable won everything in the air (although benjani was ****) mopped up when needed O'Dea - 6 thought he was poor in the air, distribution to snoddy seems well rehearsed! White - 7 brilliant again, if he makes a mistake hes quick enough to recover unlike previous LB's nearly scored (in our net ) Snods - 7 more comfortable with Connolly playing looked sharp in defence and attack Clayton - 6 got a bit too over confident for me and was lucky not to lose the ball a few times, quite game Howson -8 ran his socks off all game, best game from him this year but still dnt like him playing that role Pugh - 7 okay got a goal didnt really do much else, supported White well when needed Keogh - 6 poor game ran well and spread the defenders but his first touch was poor McCormack - ran like fook real handful for defenders and has wonderful feet n vision (Luc) - 5 came on when we where under the cosh didn't do anything at all (first touch was worse than keogh) (Mika) - 5 very negative player Kilkenny type slows attacks right down and likes passing to defenders not the answer IMO (Forsell) - 6 although he looks overweight still light on his feet and showed his strikers instinct with the one chance he got good skill and shot and equally good save Tactics - Brilliant in the first half, kept the ball created chances gave them not a sniff, Second half fair play to cotteril he change their shape and brought Kanu on who is still class(he holds the ball up and brings the midfielders into play) we struggled to deal with them. managed to contain them for a clean sheet couple of match savers from Lonners SG - Really is Boring
Agree with most of ynbk's view although, thought a bit harsh on Mika. The passing around at the back took some of the heat out of Pompey's attempts go get back into the game. Impressed with Pugh as well, will never be a max,but good in the air and chased back to help the defence out.
Chesh Maybe Mika did but just reminded me too much of Kilkenny we had a chance of an attack and he held the ball and slowed it down
Thought he may have been told by grayson to slow it down.Beats charging up field losing the ball and maybe a goal. I know we aren't use to seeing us try to keep what we have, but its what other teams do.frustrates the hell out of the losing team.
No LIW Got away with far too many silly little turns which wouldve left us in the ****. hes a great player and I love the guy tbh but just didnt do much for me Satday
Exactly mate, I mean fair enough show off a bit but do it in the right areas not when your the only midfielder in our half facing your own goal or on the edge of our own penalty area. lol Still think hes amazing tho
Hmmm, you two have worried me about Clayts now. I rate him very highly but hope this prem attention isn't going to highlight a mental weakness. What made Johnny's performance so great then? Was he deployed to break up any attacks or was his work rate just so high that he played covered ground both defensively and attacking? Hope Mika improves! Are you two going to the Bahdiff game this month? I have a mate going so thinking of coming up if some of you lot are about for a drink or several...
LIw and Kissa are both ST's so they will be there, whether there is a meet up I dont know but I think Badger is coming up for the Cardiff game.
Ill be knocking around not sure about meet up tho. Jonny is wasted in the role he played on Saturday but he is efficient, Mika still needs to work on his match fitness then we will see his true colours. Clayton is still class just had a bad game, (hope he signs up)
