We actually have options on the bench! Not that it matters because Ralph never uses his subs before the 80th minute.
Not surprising that Redmond has been dropped. Ralph has consistently said he wants more from him and he's continued to fail to deliver. Given Walcott and Armstrong's quality, I can see Nathan having a hard time getting back into the first 11.
I can see him wanting him to do well... just don't think he is good enough to ever be a starter for us in the premier league.
Agreed, though I think he’s a hard worker, and dropping him may well be the kick he needs. I suspect he’ll be a very effective change once on.
Redmond had a spell last season where his all round game was good, except for putting the ball in the net. I have seen a quote from him, recognising his need for more composure when shooting, and have seen enough from him to see that he is at least getting into positions where he can get a shot off. It will come.
It depends on whether Redders understands why he has been dropped, and what he needs to do to turn things around. You don't want him to sit and sulk.
I do agree, but I think Djenepo should be given an opportunity ahead of Redmond off the bench. He's younger, and while he is more raw, ultimately he needs an opportunity. Redmond has played nearly 200 games for us... he's had plenty of chances to improve, but his decision making and play in the final third is the same as it was when he joined us.
Nathan is coming back from injury, it takes time to get up to speed with the rest of them. I agree he should be replaced, but he is still a really important part of our season, and the best thing is for us, he is likely to start playing into top form in the busy Xmas period.
I'm listening to Radio Solent, playing "what Saints don't want to do now is..." bingo. I may include a glass of wine for every Bl**ding obvious Whispering Dave Merrington statement. I've got a couple of bottles lined up...
Ooooh, not only are the fans on Redmond’s back, now it’s the manager. Confidence player; I’ve read many many times on here. This will be interesting. Hopefully positive.
Problem with Moussa so far is that he can't get a run in the team because everytime he plays he seems to pick up an injury.
Its good to see so much competition for places all over the field, if a player isn't on their A Game then they will be replaced and Redders is the latest victim of that policy but should keep performances high Happy with the change but both Armstrong and Walcott know if they aren't at it they will be off
There’s room for 11 players on the pitch. No one is guaranteed a place in the starting lineup. I’m sure they all know and accept that.
