I'm sad that he's died, and he was a good actor and in a lot of my favourite movies (Bond, Highlander, Outland), but there are a few stories of him I've heard that if true will take a bit of gloss off his reputation. After Savile and so on I guess I'd rather keep my powder dry in case negative stuff comes out later
(BTW I'm not accusing him of behaving like Savile, just after the way people went on singing his praises when he died only for the stories of his behaviour to come out and make them look stupid, I'd rather be cautious in my praise)

Funny isn’t it that, in most (mine included) opinions he’s the best Bond. Considering how much he disliked the role!

I didn’t know he didn’t like the role, would’ve been the ideal one for me. A bit like Agatha Christie hated poirot.

It wasn't so much that he hated the roll, but after I think Goldfinger he started to clash with Cubby Broccoli largely about money and image rights. He was offered deals that while good to most people, including associate producer rights, weren't up to what he wanted, so by the time of YOLT he was just going through the motions for a large pay check and hated being involved. The dispute carried on until Broccoli's death, where he was the only James Bond not to attend the funeral (Timothy Dalton was a pall barer).

As already said, watched Dr No tonight. Have to admit he played the part well. Yes, his Bond has had its day with the treatment of women and ethnic minorities and stuff but still a damn good film.

Looks like I'm in the minority in thinking he was the worst James Bond.. The only Connery Bond film I remotely liked was Goldfinger.

Horses for courses innit. I, like a lot of others, think that he was the best one.
Lots of people used to wax lyrical about the Lethal Weapon movies. I went to the pictures to watch the first one when it came out. I fell asleep about 25 minutes into it. Bored me silly.
