The kid has plenty of ability to run with the ball but he desperately needs to improve his crossing and his defending. When he gets his crosses whipped in he looks very handy and his work can be let down by the fact we don’t get numbers into the box. Defensively I think he’s pretty poor. We concede lots which comes down our left hand side. If the club gets the right caliber of coach/manager in to help him in these areas he could have a very successful career. I hope he reaches his very decent potential.
As you say, we don’t get numbers into the box. I guarantee if we did, he would have one of the highest assist totals in the league. Our attackers are letting us down massively which is ultimately going to cost us.
Spot on! As a winger/wing back if you put in a good cross you expect an attacking player to be busting a gut to get on the end of it. Must be downhearted when he puts those crosses in! His first season he almost always found a man in the box. You could see he wouldn’t cross unless he could pick someone out. Even so much that he’d look up and wait or play the ball the width of the field rather than dally. I guess Parkinson or a coach has told him to put it in the mix quickly.
All about opinions I supppose but I think his crossing is generally poor. I think that his got better as a player since mecgeady was axed and my personal opinion was he was frightened to make a mistake because Mcgeady would get on his case. However, although I agree that he generally crosses when he gets an opportunity to, the quality of his crosses is too poor too often. I get annoyed at the number of lofted balls floated straight to the back of the box. A decent cross in my view is hit at head height, at pace and into a dangerous area. That’s a centre forwards dream and if those crosses are regularly being put in, the blame for a lack of goals can only lie with the players failing to get on the end of them.
My god you are blaming McGeady for his poor crossing heard it all now. He’s just a better player now, it happens.
No I’m not. I’m blaming the fact that he was a young kid frightened of getting bollocked for doing the wrong thing that made him indecisive and not just put a cross in first time when it was needed. The quality of his crossing is a different matter. Why are you trying to make this into an agenda against Mcgeady thing? I don’t have agendas, just observations from watching them week in week out
