I guess in a nutshell that I get frustrated when I see the leaders dishing out contracts to 'the boys' and then a few months and a few billion later we still can't test enough people. ****ing China just did a whole city of 9 million in a week and we cant do 300k a day after 8 months.

I'm just not in the mood for excuses from politicians, doctors, teachers or anyone. People need to take responsibility and do what needs to be done. It's not happened. They still haven't decided to stick or twist.

I'd have more respect if they just turned around and said every man for himself instead of this wishy washy changing minds mess they are doing..... for the second time.

I'd need to be really pished to dance anywhere, personally! :D

Seriously though, I believe that some areas which don't have the Nightingale facility are splitting their hospitals into Covid & non-Covid. In others, where they don't have this opportunity, they've split the hospitals into red (Covid) & green (non-Covid) 'wings'. I also believe the arrangement with private hospitals is still in place, to cope with any 'overspill'.

As for staffing, it's all hands to the pumps. An example is my sister who is a Podiatrist (foot hacker - don't tell her I said that!) has been taken off doing her rounds of clinics. Initially, she was transferred to NHS phone support to handle Covid calls, to be directed appropriately, or explaining NHS advice to those unaware. Once that peak was over, she was moved to deal with serious 'knee-downwards' diabetes wounds, & the people who would normally do that were moved onto a more challenging role, given their medical expertise. That's in Aberdeen, but I'm sure the other areas will be juggling staff around to make better use of them under these circumstances.

One further comment. I don't care if the Covid deaths number tens, hundreds, or even thousands per day. Presenting conspiracy tables to show it's not the primary killer in this country is both stupid, futile, & misleading propaganda. At the end of the day, people are dying, and the present numbers are exactly that - present numbers. Unchecked, they will rise exponentially. Unlike the cancers, heart failures etc. that people present as more worrying. Their numbers are pedestrian by comparison, so get a grip. Tell me the last time that cancer deaths were doubling every fortnight. Or heart attacks. Or any other ****er that's in the 'table'. If we fail to take appropriate measures, thousands will start dying every day. Yup, every day. Just before we hit 10s of thousands every day. I'm also horrified by the 'me, me, me' attitude in england. Yes, you may be very lucky & survive unscathed if you catch it. However, the poor sods you were in contact with when you didn't realise you'd got it might not be so lucky. That most likely includes your families & friends.

I still don't understand what NZ & their wonderful PM did to get the infections down to zero. But we should be looking at it. Now. Then again, that would mean Boris the Butcher of Britain admitting he was wrong, so it just won't happen, will it?

No chance of a vaccine by then. Still don’t have one for SARS-COVID (this is 2) 18 years later. Have to learn to live with it like we have done with all the other coronaviruses.

There will be I reckon. 12 of them in phase three testing some with final results due this month. Ok we won’t be able to get our hands on it maybe by March but if we at least have a genuine date to aim for when s mi normality can return, it would make a hell of a difference to people’s outlook

As Johnson is no medical expert what do you want him to do? Follow the advice of his own scientists (which he’s doing) and lock the country down? Or ignore them and follow the advice of other scientists who say lockdown is unnecessary?

    LOL.

I only mentioned england because that's where I've lived for the last 30 years & can see for myself what's going on. I have no idea what's happening in Norn, Wales, or Scotland, so can't comment on them with any certainty. It would not surprise me if it's much the same there.

    Happy now? :D

As I mentioned to Forza, check out the last paragraph. Sadly, I cannot recall any of our great journalists (well, in their eyes) pinning him to the wall with that question. Could well be that there's a very good reason, but for me it's an obvious place to start.

Have to confess that I've been a big fan of Jacinda Ardern for quite some time. I didn't think it was possible for her to get higher up my list. But she did with the handling of C19 in NZ.

You cannot compare the demographics of the population of the two countries or what each country means to the global economy if we shut down compared to NZ. And I’m sorry, but we are condemning others to die on the back of the virus.
For what it’s worth, my rant is (and tin hat is on for the flack) just when did we as an entire country turn into such a bunch of snivelling, cowardly, hide under the bed at the first sign of adversity nation? What is the alternative? Never go out again or move on?
