You have over 99 % chance of recovery. Likely to have mild symptoms or be asymptomatic, far higher than most if all cancers. I’ll take my chances with the virus.

And while hospitals fill up with people with Covid where do people with other problems go?

Get the pop up nightingale hospitals up and running. First wave we were all caught on the hop, you’d hope this time around we have enough ppe and ventilators ready. Don’t do the lock down until we are on course for being over capacity.

I’m watching Sky News now, Liverpool on Tier 3 queues down the street outside a fancy dress shop. 100s of 18-25 year olds saying they don’t care, they’re going to parties tonight. Like one politician said, unless the public are on board another lock down won’t work and the public have shown they’re not.

You can’t have lockdowns and say essential services can stay open, everyone will have a reason why they are “essential”.

They weren’t overwhelmed at the height of the pandemic and the nightingales were quietly closed.

Why can't the covid patients all go to the Nightingale hospitals and try and keep them out of the normal hospitals? I don't understand why this wasn't done as much as possible.

Still have to be staffed. Would you fancy working in a hospital full of COVID patients? I wouldn’t

It’s this fear that is driving decisions like lockdown, I get that and understand it as that’s the messaging, but if you look at actual data this is not as fatal, except in certain vulnerable groups, as is being made. It is the latest new variation of SARS-COVID, MERS etc

I don’t follow your figures as we’ve enough problems of our own but can someone tell me how many hospital bed are currently occupied in uk by COVID patients and how many were there a week or two weeks ago

No but the covid wards are staffed are they not? They had the equipment and the staff ready in April in the Nightingale hospitals. Where did they all go? If we are suspending routine operations again then use the extra staff. All I'm suggesting is keeping the covid patients out of regular hospitals as much as possible.

At this point I am tired of hearing about reasons we can't do things. We've had the best part of a year to organise things. If the people responsible haven't done anything then maybe it's time to get the guillotine out again.

Personally I just find it to be a very selfish attitude to basically say I don’t care about catching it and if bad enough some team of nurses can sort it. Anyway I seldom bother with the news anymore or comment. Have my own family to keep as safe as I can

You set a challenge. I did read them recently but honestly can’t remember but as someone said it’s the messaging. If there were low numbers and they doubled so still low in relation to the population it reported as a 100% increase. There is an Irish guy on Twitter, goes by the name of Ivor Cummings (careful how you google that one <laugh>) but does a great explanation of the pandemic and what he now calls the “casedemic”. I think C19 ranks as 9th or 19th as most common cause of death in the uk.

Wouldn’t bother reading what anyone says on twitter about it. Everyone’s an expert. Just want to know how hospital admissions are shaping up. They are figures that can’t really be camouflaged and indicate pressure increasing or decreasing on health workers

That's not my attitude. I'm sorry if it came across that way.

I've done my bit and more throughout this. The first lockdown was horrendous. I was up at 6 to school my 8 year old 6 days a week. I worked from 12 noon to midnight 7 days a week making ventilator parts in a team of up to 20 people with no PPE because we decided to donate it all to the hospital up the road. I did the weekly shop (three times a week due to the hoarders meaning I couldn't buy more than 2 of stuff so had to keep going) for me and my family, my elderly vulnerable parents and my wifes 92 year old grandparents. My wife worked from home from 6 in the morning until dinner time. Didn't really see her for 6 months. As mentioned above, plenty of covid around me at work. It was **** but I towed the line and still do. I've donated to food banks and all the charity runs I do including marathons and half marathons etc I have let keep the money despite not getting to do any of the events.

My lad had an ear infection and some kind of viral infection on his legs and I couldn't get a doctor to see him face to face even when I asked them to do it through the window. He is still struggling and nobody seems to give a ****.

The teachers wouldn't open up at his school and then only part time. Thankfully that's now changed. There are no after school clubs so I now work from 6 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon so I can pick him up. I'm doing this at a reduced shift rate but what can I do if schools teachers are unwilling to work extra hours. They have also had two teacher training days since September. Obviously too busy to do that online in the summer. Obviously too dangerous.

Like I say, I'm tired of hearing about how we can't do things or haven't prepared for this a second time when I have genuinely bent over backwards to do everything I can to get me and my family through it whilst trying my best to accommodate others when I can.

On top of that I have finally had my first week off work since last Christmas this week in the Lakes and it's like being in a ****ing washing machine all week with the wind and rain but I have tried my best again.

I'm still happy to get the guillotine out for those responsible for failing to get it right.

That's my rant and I'm sticking to it! <laugh>

He’s not some random nutter I promise you. Supports the views of Dr. Mike Yeadon (front page of the Daily Mail today) and some 44k scientists and medical professionals worldwide urging governments worldwide to rethink on lockdowns. Completely respect your viewpoint however <ok>

Get yourself out tonight and give it to all the young selfish bastards. People of 18 plus going out to take part in an american kids occasian. I cringe when i see anyone supposedly adult taking part. They will go out tonight and infect their families upon return. Selfish little ****tts
