http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/7214932/-Drivers-to-discuss-Hamilton-s-bravado- Regardless of your opinions on his driving style I feel this has the potential to polarise the grid. There are already drivers coming out saying they won't attend, and I don't think Rob Smedleys Singapore radio comments have given Ferrari any moral high ground to complain about Singapore.
I suppose it had to happen sooner or later. Regardless of which side of the fence you sit in relation to LewisGate, he has done himself no favours and from the outside seems to have less and less support from within the paddock and press. However, I'm not sure where I sit in relation to the peer pressure from certain drivers. Is it within their remitt to orchastrate such an action and is it within the intrest of the support? I'm assuming that certain drivers do feel "unsafe" when racing with/against him and I suppose that unless Charlie can bang all their heads together then we could be in for some unexplained driver reactions at some point over the coming races. I suppose there is a very fine line between rivalry and a bitter dislike for a fellow competitor - Senna/Prost for example!
I notice it's only been reported in Italy, the land where everyone is a die-hard Ferrari fan, seems a bit like **** stirring and the usual Italian machiavellian BS trying to get at Hamilton to me.
I'm too lazy to look, but I'm gonna guess that Schumacher has hit more people since his return than Hamilton has in the same period, and has done far more dangerous things.
I'm not sure if he has hit as many people, but his defensive driving has been just as dangerous if not more so. The incident with Rubens springs to mind as being far more dangerous than anything Hamilton has done this year, and he's forced a few people off track too.
I dunno, he collided with three people in one race including his team mate. edit: on thinking about it, they've both done that.
Lewis should have spoken to Massa last week before that incident made news, I think he needs somebody to advise him to avoid this sort of thing arising then he needs to clear the air with other racers. Maldonado must have had a similar sort of grudge against him this season even though he says they are mates now.
I want to know who is going to this meeting, Heikki isnt going (tweeted), I can just imagine Massa and Pastor, maybe Alosnso in support of his team mate. Personally I think its making a big deal out of nothing.
Nick, A lot of people have critisised Hamilton this year for speaking before thinking, I think not engaging Massa post race was the right thing to do, it should have gone through the proper channels via the teams. Massas never been shy of a little confrontation immediately after a race
lol, nice vid. Alonso is probably right though, because I've noticed this year Massa is a bit of a dirty bastard. Not surprising though after all he was Sithmachers apprentice.
Excuse me for being a bit thick here but I can't see anywhere in that article where it says some of the drivers wont be attending the meeting.
Do you reacon Lewis would have less people on his back if he joined Ferrari and became more elusive to the public?
This meeting will only make things worse. I think Lewis will be more angered about drivers meeting together to stop his style. This may sound stupid but could Lewis quit the sport if he is losing confidence and drivers losing respect for him?
Maybe quitting the sport would be the best thing for him? I don't mean this in a permanent sense, but as a driver, he could go away and hone his skills in another motorsport where the media scrutiny would be less? I'm not too familiar with Indycar, but maybe that could be an option, or Le Mans, etc. If he spent maybe 2 or 3 seasons out of F1, and not necessarily in a front-running car, he could really develop, and return to F1 a more well rounded, mature driver. If Webber is planning on staying at Red Bull a season or two more, he could sign a deal to replace him in 2013, and then go off and do his thing elsewhere. Realistically, I know its not an option, but maybe he'd benefit?
Naaah... I'm actually hoping that it fires him up and kick starts him back in to top form. I wouldn't think that the likes of Vettel or Alonso would be bothered to turn up... It's not like they have a beef and probably have more pressing engagements. Unless Massa and Maldonado have put on drinks & nibbles and booked a mobile disco... They might stop by then.
