It doesn’t really work with coronaviruses because it’s been confirmed you can get it twice. You also need nearly everybody in the country to have had it and there’s no country on the planet that’s had almost their entire population exposed to it. Even the clusterfuck that is the USA hasn’t got to the point where herd immunity could begin to be viable.
Because our population doesn't act like the Swedes and behave responsibly. Especially the younger part of it. Look at the scenes in Nottingham last night with hordes of young people dancing about and hugging each other as though they had achieved something memorable or Forest had won the European Cup again. Also, Sweden is a sparsely populated country unlike this overcrowded one.
Perhaps 'our' population kick back when told they cannot do something ? We are being dictated too in a way the Swedes weren't. Perhaps Sweden got it right and we got it arse about face ? Also are the cities in Sweden any less populated then our cities ?
There is some interesting opinion on whether or not Sweden did get it right?.Looking at death rates per million population,Sweden(587 per million) is certainly a fair bit better than for example U.K(680),USA(709)Belgium(987),considering they(Sweden)had little or no restrictions it's interesting to say the least? But,if you then look at figures for Norway(52)Denmark(124)Finland(65),you begin to wonder whether that region is dealing with a milder strain/version and Sweden's figures may have been much lower with some form of lockdown?
More importantly I don't think the Swedish economy is about to crash like ours. Our kids will be paying for this when we are all dead and gone. Its a ****ing scandal.
If they kick back and won't accept restrictions, or act irresponsibly as some would call it, then we will have difficulty controlling it. Other countries, like Spain, France and Italy have had far more restrictions than we have, backed up by armed police and legally being required to carry ID. Noticeaboe how all the people at mass gatherings here don't wear masks whilst even those protesting against restriction, in some cases rioting, in the countries I mentioned are nearly all wearing masks.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-birmingham-54754841 Police have closed a shisha cafe after finding about 150 people inside, days after the venue was hit with a £10,000 fine for Covid-19 breaches. Officers forced their way in to Kasablanca in the Highgate area of Birmingham at 01:00 BST on 24 October. Video posted on YouTube shows officers forcing entry to the smokers' lounge on Moseley Street, with shrieks audible as they disperse the crowds. The venue had broken restrictions earlier this month, police said.
I'm aware of that Barca...I live in the Central Belt and there's some ****ing idiots in my neck of the woods.
It will be worse than that. Our grandkids will be paying it off. We have been paying tax to pay off debts from WW1, it was only finally settled in 2014 a century after it started. At least our kids will have the proceeds of our houses to help them out when we depart this mortal coil. Not everyone will be that lucky. And unless our kids have their own houses then neither will our grandkids.
I've always said... the UK is a destination hub, be it for business or pleasure.. Is Sweden on a holiday list for many no, is the UK yes. We have had every corner of the world visiting the UK for business and pleasure without airport screening, we just weren't prepared for it. SO comparing Sweden and the UK is pretty pointless...
The comparison is how the pandemic has been handled. Here it's knee jerk reactions, changing by the day with, seemingly, the objective by some, to embarress the Government at every opportunity. Sweden have handled it better then the UK, destination or not.
Lovely brummy accent on the copper. Suitably clouded vid I see And the West Midlands police are recruiting!!
