It's not me you need to worry about. It appears that the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov has been slowly poisoning me for years. I only found out the other day that she has always put marmite in the gravy and other food totally unbeknown to me. I've now started spending more time in the kitchen to keep an eye on her.

Spain are setting a “state of alarm” until 9th May 2021, subject to final confirmation. Below is a translation of what you can or cannot do. Much is being left to the individual communities to decide.

As a follow up from yesterdays post regarding the new restrictions set forth by the declaration of the state of alarm, N332 have asked us to translate this FAQ lifted from the Policia Local in Madrid, here is the full translation:
    ___________________________________________________

❗Questions About The State of Alarm❗

➡️ Is it the same state of alarm as before?

    No.

    ➡️ How does it differ?

Mainly in that there will be no home confinement of the population.

➡️ When does it come into effect?

    This afternoon.

➡️ How long will this state of alarm be in effect?

Certainly until Monday the 9th of November, but the principle idea of the government is that the state of alarm lasts for six months, until the 9th of May. This needs to be approved in the congress of deputies this week.

➡️ Could it end before the 9th of May?

Yes, but it doesn't seem like this is going to happen. The six months set by the government follows scientific and technical criteria. According to experts, this is the time necessary to bend the curve and slow the advance of the pandemic.

➡️ Will there be a general confinement of the population?

Initially no, but the powers are beholden by the presidents of each autonomous community. So if the data worsens in a community, they could end up decreeing home confinement.
In any case, the government's request is that the population stay home as much as possible. Less mobility, less contact and fewer possibilities of infection.

➡️ Are we going to be able to leave the house freely?

No. During the day you can go out for any reason, but at night movements are limited.

➡️ What time is the curfew?

Throughout the national territory, the curfew is from 11:00pm to 6:00 am.

➡️ Do all the autonomous communities have the same hours?

No. Each autonomous community can push forward or delay the start time of the curfew. So it could start between 10:00pm and 00:00am, and end between 5:00am and 7:00am.

➡️ Are there exceptions to curfew?

Yes. During the curfew you can be on the streets for the following justified reasons. Some of these would be:

    Acquiring medicines.

    Returning from work.

    Returning home.

    Care for the elderly.

➡️ Can I take the dog out after 23:00 or go for a run?

In principle no, unless in your specific autonomous community the start time of the curfew is set at 00:00.

➡️ What's going to happen this Christmas?

This is not known, but it is most certain that the Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve parties will have to be celebrated with the cohabitants. The government intends to approve the state of alarm until the 9th of May. The curfew would be extended until said date, so that after 11:00pm one could not be on the streets.

➡️ Is there an autonomous community that will not have a curfew?

    Yes, the Canary Islands.

➡️ Can we travel within the autonomous community?

It depends. Each community will decide if there is free movement in its territory or if there will be perimeter confinements (neighbourhoods, city, districts, provinces ...) within the community itself.

➡️ Will there be travel between communities?

This also depends. Each community decides whether to close its territory to other autonomies. In the event that a community closes its borders, travel for work, educational or medical reasons may be permitted.

➡️ How many people can meetup?

Communities may also limit social gatherings, but with a maximum limit of six people, unless they are cohabitants.

Interesting article in the Mail. Apparently the incidence of flu is down (as I predicted because of the use of masks and less mixing) which may be good or bad. Good because of the reduction in serious illness and death due to flu, but possibly bad because apparently the presence of one virus can reduce the incidence of a second virus...due to activation of the immune system and to a suspected protective effect of the initial viral infection....in other words, once a virus is in place, it drives out attacks from other viruses. A virulent and widespread cold is believed to have prevented the predicted Swine flu pandemic. Epidemiologists are certainly on a learning curve.

Yeah, we don’t have a great record for gaoling the rich and powerful in this country. In the USA they do though; Trump and many of his cronies must be starting to sweat. And is Rudy Ghouliani nuts btw? The bloke who had the job of personal Trump lawyer/fixer/spokesperson before him - Michael Cohen - is in gaol right now.

New national lockdown being considered from Monday. Not sure this is the answer, we can't just keep having lockdowns every few months. Need a proper exit strategy of sorts.

Wouldn't say 'great' tbh, you seen the Epstein doc? Money and power can still go a long way over there.

Money and power goes a long way everywhere.

I haven’t seen the Epstein doc, no. Epstein was in gaol though when he died wasn’t he?

Most of Nixon’s cronies ended up behind bars. Nixon himself only avoided gaol because Gerald Ford pardoned him. I can’t think of any occasion in Europe when that many politicians or their associates received convictions, other than for war crimes - and then only when they were on the losing side.

Quite a few of Trump’s campaign team and former associates are there already.

He may have been in jail when he died but he should have been brought to the book much earlier. Look into his charges and what he actually ended up serving . And also his non prosecution agreement. Whole think ****ing stinks n undoubtedly caused countless others to be abused.

They might be better than others, just not having that they're 'great' at it.

We need to know how to use the time. I wholly agree with you, sporadic lockdowns are just going to leave us screwed. If everything shuts (and please, include Universities) then local, regional and national strategies need to be developed.

We seem to be working with the starting point that a vaccine will arrive next year, but what if it doesn't? We should be working on the basis that there won't be one imo, instead of putting all our eggs in one basket of which there's no guarantee.

The cornerstone of a successful CV 19 strategy is a comprehensive accurate reliable test, trace and isolate program alongside distancing, hygiene, mask and the development of effective treatments and eventually vaccines.
