It was the smell the coffee in the OP I meant Cest and I know now we are in a fight, by the time we kick of at Arsenal we could well be in the bottom 3 and TBH I dont see the result changing that. I dont think my wish for Bruce to succeed is about Bruce TBH, more about not wanting change. I see lots I like about Bruce and the future and even more I dont like. I liked the reaction when Elmo scored and how they ran to Bruce and I liked the Bruce Quinn hug, it shows a strong bond. The let down is that the bond seems to break around kick off time.

Bottom line, I want Bruce to succeed but wont cry if he leaves tomorrow, suppose I have climed the fence.

Of all the things said and written on these boards in the last few weeks mate, thats one of the most profound and reasoned statements I have read so far and I find myself curiously agreeing with it in its entirity without question.

Not something that happens reglarly as you know. Lol

I reckon Syd's discreetly and gradually sneaking over that fence lol...I too agree with your sentiments though Syd...time will tell eh? But when the manager picks a fight so to speak with the fans as Bruce has done today then it's only a matter of time and there will be only one winner in that "fight"...

But instead we`ll get year after year of rebuilding the squad with the same old excuses!

I find it hard to believe some people are still fighting Bruces corner, all this bull ****e he keeps coming out with, need time to gel, difficult start to season bollocks, come on Steve just take it on the chin, accept your wrong and the buck stops with you, stop blaming the supporters and have a long hard look at yourself and commit to putting it right by choosing an attacking tactic at home and more defensive tactic away depending on who were playing and make substitutions early enough for those players to make an impact and stop playing players out of position and actually use our 8 million signing and well all get off ya back!

    Other wise **** off!!

Off at a tangent, but sort of relevant...

Do you think Martin O'Neill will take over at Forest?

I am too also perfect haha!

No, in all seriousness, no one is perfect and we all make mistakes but most of us learn from them and will admit when were wrong and not pass the blame onto anyone else.

Unfortunatley this doesnt apply to Bruce and how dare he have a go at the fans!

We are still one of the best supported clubs in the contry even with the ****e thats on show!

bruce you have picked a fight with the wrong people like, you should be getting the crowd on your side not alienating them with ****ty little digs at them, prick!

I have a funny feeling he may well be the choice too.

MoN might be a surprise appointment mind, as there is a lot of feeling there between the 2 parties and he likes projects where he cant fail really. They can only get better imo.

I think Keano could do for them what he did for us and raise their profile and get em back up.

There a club that should be playing in the top tier!

doubt we will seem the same scale of rebuilding again (unless we change manager) - we only have 1 loan player this season so only 3 or 4 players to get in the next couple of windows.

I never thought in a million years we would loan out our record signing main striker after the transfer window but we did so wouldnt be suprised if come next summer Bruce needs to over haul the squad again and will probably have another boat load of excuses as to why and thats IF were even in the Premiership next year!

I doubt that we will be loaning out 10 of our players next summer.... my only worry would be Sess (if he lives up to his potential).

Sorry gents - I've read all of the replies so far and I'm afraid that I haven't changed my opinion one jot. I'm delighted that Mr Bruce will stay with us until 2014. Quinn and Short are not daft. And nor is Bruce contary to what some have written. The fella won a Super Cup, a Cup Winners Cup, 3 Premier Leagues, 3 FA Cups and 2 League Cups: most of those were as a skipper!

I don't get how Bruce is apparently unable to motivate? We came from 2 nil down within 5 minutes and fought back magnificantly. We've also tonked a top side 4-0.

Also, I'm sick of hearing that Bent should have been replaced. How many other 25 goal a season strikers are there who will want to join us. We have to be realisitc! I doubt anybody will remember 2 players who (we were told on good authority) flatly declined to join us under Roy Keane: David Nugent (who joined the mighty Portsmouth) and Chris Baird (who joined the mighty Fulham). That's an example of how hard it is for our club to attract players. Can we blame Bruce for this?

Also Cest - McCann and Sorensen would walk into the current side...are you sure pal!?

I remember an interview with Reidy shortly after the Premier Passions documentary was aired. Reid confessed that he wasn't much of a tactician but could motivate the squad, yet people are complaining that Bruce isn't much of a tactician! Reid was a fantastic boss for 7 years before he fell out with a few too many of the playing staff. At the end of the day there aren't many managers foaming at the mouth to join us. I dread to think what O'Neil or Moyes would bring to the table..I'm not desperate to see a Leicester or Everton style side funnily enough.

I don't think it takes remarkable motivational powers to inspire your club to draw after being behind to one of the worst teams in the league. Also, while it was a lovely team goal, I don't reckon Bendtner's shot was going in without the deflection. If Bruce is such a good motivator, why, in the following 1 hour of football, were Sunderland unable to find a winner?

The achievements of two of the all time greats of English football, Sir's Moore and Charlton, eclipse and over shadow those of Mr Bruce mate and Bobby Moore is one of the greatest club and country captains of all time anywhere in world football for the last 100 years but look at their managerial records sometime and you will se why its their footballing prowess that is often spoken of and never the managers.

Great players and captains dont always make great leaders as managers (look at Bryan Robson as well for that) so lets not confuse the two arguments. Jose Mourinho couldn’t hit a barn door as a player but would you question his management ability? Wenger and SAF were hardly world class stars either on the pitch but as coaches/managers they are magnificent. I dont disagree that SB the player was a top quality one but as manager, his record isn’t brilliant at all. Spells at the likes of Sheff Utd, Huddersfield, Palace and Wigan are hardly distinguished with glory. At a relatively bigger club in Birmingham he left after falling out with everyone concerned and at the time, as I recall, there were no protests from Birmingham fans either.

At Sunderland, he has enjoyed full control of the team, backed financially when he wanted it and has the kind of Chairman most managers can only dream about and yet it’s not exactly worked has it? We have had 2 slumps in 2 years that had us flirting with relegation (dont give me the 10th place finish please, as it’s completely bogus and you know it) and this time, since January, the slump hasn’t ended yet. We are 9 months into a very poor run of form that I can’t see us turning out of. Our home form is one of the worst I can remember, even with some of the duck eggs we have had as manager over the decades.

If, as you say, you are truly happy to see him remain our manager until 2014, then I'm afraid that will be as a Championship one because we are destined for another relegation under his leadership this season imo.

I wont even begin to discuss the comment “I dread to think what a Mon or David Moyes could bring us”, as I think you must be under some hallucinogenic substance when you made it and it wouldn’t be fair to have a go at you based on that.

I find it wierd that there are fans here willing to keep faith in Bruce...yet his record is the same as Lawrie Mcmenemy..can't remember too many people backing him at the time.
