I am becoming more convinced every day that Bruce is not the problem, a big part yes but something is not right. No idea what or even if there is something going on, just feels very wrong.

BTW, this is in no way a Bruce in comment, its a is there a bigger problem one.

Now I could well be wrong, I may be looking for problems that don't exsist and maybe a good run to take the pressure off or a change of manager will sort it, I just have a niggle it wont.

Maybe our promising season failing to take off has me seeing things in the shadows.

Have a look at my post earlier mate.

Since 1975/6 season I've seen 7 relegations under 5 owners and christ knows how many managers - 18 I think it was - and the club during that time have largely been absolutely ****e.

Why is that? Only some brief interludes form Durban, Smith and Reid broke the mould but on the whole, we have been abject at being a professional football club and there is one thread that runs right through that and is the main problem.

I've said it before loads of time. The fans.

We have just laid back and accepted relegation after relegation; ****e manager appointment after ****e manager appointment and a conveyor belt of useless, talentless and totally hapless players for the past 40 years without so much as a 'scuse me' or pardon'.

At any other club there would have been bloody hell on at some of the crap served up to us but we just take it. We keep coming back in droves and in the 10's of 1000's. Would Liverpool, Man Utd or Arsenal fans put up with some of the utter garbage we have since we last won a trophy nearly 40 years ago and yet still pull in 40,000 plus crowds?

If we protested, kicked up a fuss and generally didnt accept the ****e we are served as some kind of badge of honour, then maybe, just maybe we may well have amounted to something these past 4 decades.

We need a ruthless CEO and an ambitious owner, to recruit a hungry top quality manager with a burning desire to achieve greatness and not just be comfortable with average. We need the fans to be ultra-demanding, to a point where attendance is based on performance and then we need the players to effect the plans of the manager to achieve the goals aspired to.

We've NEVER had ANY of the above imo and until we do we will always attract average owners, managers, players and have average aspirations. Far form being too demanding here in the NE I thnk we are far, far too lenient with the failure and middle of the road tripe we suffer decade after decade.

    Just my opinion though. lol

    Exactly!

And why cant we have this?

Whats the point in accepting mediocre existence happy to just survive and not try and win anything?

Someone needs to take our club by the balls and give it a kick up the arse in my view!

Will never happen though, the fans will still turn up week after week in their 10s of 1000s and get slagged off by a Geordie manager!!! ****in joke man!!!

I may not be welcome on this board but I must say I think this has got to be one of the most sensible and outspoken posts I have ever seen. Not many people would think like that and I congratulate you for doing so. Great post, but if I'm honest, you've been better the last couple of years than you have in what seems like forever. Stability in the Premiership has been vital to you, now like you say, you need to push to the next level. Something which is much harder without having a mega rich owner i.e. Chelsea, Citeh etc.

Anyways, best of luck to mid table mediocrity...hopefully the same as us, as hopefully we can both push on in the future.

look at the most successful club in the league Man Utd, They have stuck with their manager, it took him a while to get it right but now look at them. How many teams have sacked their manager and done really well straight away without a ton of money???
