Yep bottom clubs were saying they wouldn't vote for any plan that involved relegation

This is arguable, but wasn't the main thrust of my post anyway so I'm not sure why you've highlighted it other than to provoke a row. This argument has been dead for months.
My point was that clubs in general are motivated by self-interest, and it's cringe-worthy seeing some of those who aren't in the privileged positions adopt an air of false piety to berate those who are when they themselves would jump at the chance if presented to them.
I then went on to discuss the more pertinent issue of the prospect of a closed-shop super league and my opposition to it. If you want a discussion about that fine, but count me out if you want a spat over the null and void non-event.

Only you’ve just highlighted one line of my post and maintained it’s arguable and then said you won’t discuss it, so have closed it down. Whilst simultaneously saying I wanted an argument, when I didn’t at all, I was merely making a point.

I don’t agree with the rest of that either, as maybe some clubs would take a view about how long this ESL would be viable and how leaving their league to play in it (as they’d have to) might not be in either their medium term interests or the interests of the actual game.

Personally I hope it happens tbh as I’m bored of hearing about it for 22 years, form a closed shop league and take what comes, as it’d fail after a few seasons imo and then what....

Surely three of the bottom six would have been for it; the ones that wouldn't have been relegated...?

Probably not because nobody want's to see a team relegated unfairly.

If it was about self preservation, any clubs in a relegation fight that would have been saved PPG would have had a hundred millions reasons to be swayed.

You are absolutely right - No way would a club that was guaranteed to stay up against guaranteed to go down vote against their own club
They may say they would but that is just like the exit polls
Anyone that thinks different is either on the wum,
Bonkers, or an eternal optimist imho
Same as the issues at the other end of the table.

They were against the idea of relegation because they were all at risk. It was nothing to do with not wanting clubs to be unfairly relegated LOL.

Even when there proposals of being able to safely play games at neutral venues, they were against it.

Just as you were quick to call the top 6 self serving in their pursuit for more money and power, you cannot dispute the bottom clubs tried to the do same.

Only there’s absolutely no equivalence between wanting to rejig the entire league for the benefit of the top 6 and clubs being against a PPG relegation outcome.

As one was a power grab and the other a legitimate argument against the fairness of a proposal that would have affected one season & not the entire future of the game.

On the flip side - the project big picture would have benefited the majority football pyramid as well.

Whereas as voiding relegation wouldn't have been fair to the Championship teams who were vying for promotion.

Regardless of the varying impact of both scenarios, clubs acted in their best interest.
