Worse than 3 v 1 defeat at Southend with Niall Quinn in charge? That was my worst game. In that Southend were so bad I said they would get relegated (and they did) but beat us 3 1!
As a Sunday League player I was 90% effort and 10% talent but I rarely let mesel down. I loved the crack but would end up missing the post match drinks most of the time because the lads with talent strolled through the game. If I'd gone it would've ended in punches being thrown because I couldn't stand people going through the motions. I wouldn't last two minutes at Sunderland.
said it a few times about dobson, there is a footballing brain in there but he should not be starting and especially alongside power, (needs some U23 time i think to develop) bar the odd 5 yard pass to each other they never combine for anything forward...maguire and onien got a decent partnership along with willis with some neat triangles yet parky broke that up and stuck onien in defence, hume and gooch can work well together but both young lads who seem to get a 'rush of blood' at just the wrong bloody time...other than that i cannot think of any two players with any real partnership going. as i said elsewhere, sanderson seemed to grow into the game, once he settled and ventured further forward we did look more balanced rather than it all going down our left.
To be honest if it were not for this place my interest would be even less. Amongst my relatives, friends and workmates, Sunderland AND Newcastle supporters, nobody really talks about football anymore.
not sure on that one, i think gooch is guilty of trying TOO hard mate and tends to let himself down too many times, needs to steady himself down and lose his rush of blood..been an excellent provider so far though, must admit that...i feel he will come good, onien was guilty of exactly the same and people were slagging him off but once he settled himself he has been a boon.
Switched over to Ghost Adventures on Really and they've got more chance of catching a ghost on film than Parkinson getting us promotion!
I had a very sad text, before the match, from a lad who's an absolute legend. He goes to every game and has helped me sort out hundreds of tickets, dozens of hotels and countless seats on various transport. He hasn't watched any of our games since March! If lifelong supporters, like him, have given up them we're doomed to be another Wigan ... ... but without a recent trophy.
Its no suprise McLaughlan got slated for his lack of attacking abilities and crossing. Parkinson must be the only person that doesnt realise hes not an attacking fullback or wingback. His games all about defending, or in his case attempting to defend.
It'll be interesting to see how's many actually go back to matches when allowed back if this is what's being served up
