By saying you’d rather go to two non league matches rather than pay for Charlton stream you rather set yourself up doesn’t one think
Being there at one real football match (let alone two) is worth 100 pay-per-view streams, even if they have fixed the sound. In my opinion the difference between watching your team on the internet and not watching them at all goes nowhere near to covering £10. Others may not agree, that's fair enough. But my opinion is that this closed door policy stinks. If this whole season is played without fans, it will go down in history as the most pointless season ever played, whoever wins or gets promotion. It's just a different kind of mediocrity from the kind dished up by Roland for years on end. A kind that all fans are now being asked to take or leave (rather than just Charlton fans). Needless mediocrity should never be acceptable. Not a £15 a pop, or £10, or at any price.
It won't be pointless if we go up. I like you Elfs but why would you prefer to go to non League grounds rather than watch the team you support?
I can't speak for Elfs, but going to a non-league ground - being there, being part of the whole thing, being maybe cold and wet and windswept and muddy and together sharing the drama with even a few other fans - is not an experience that can be compared to watching a football match on your tablet. All we do now is watch our lives passing by. Streaming. Zoom. Whatever. Work from home if you're lucky. More and more of us stuck at home anyway with no job anymore. Under lockdown. Under this restriction or that one, or some more next week. I've got nothing against folks who want to watch their team on a tablet. But I don't think those who choose to do that should have anything against those of us who don't - and don't want to.
Nailed it mate. No passion, no excitement, "oh well, never mind". The tele gets turned off and shoulders are shrugged.
I like to watch footy as much as anybody but need some sort of connection to the team I’m Watching , use to love watching my son play more than Charlton when he played in the Kent league but wouldn’t put non league attendance over live stream of Charlton. Just my view and I know we all have different tastes .
I hope to see Marcus Maddison playing some of tonight’s game. Would he be taking corners? Mystic Butterfield, the cheap imitation of Mystic Shabbs, sees a Maddison cross being met by the forehead of Ryan Inniss. Oxfords keeper - no chance.
I have been to Welling, Cray Wanderers Phoenix Sports. It is just a game of Football, no emotional connection. Whereas watching Charlton. even on the TV is different.
Sorry mate but that is a nonsense. All money received at the gate goes to Sandgaard. I have bought a season ticket and renewed my Valley Gold membership. I also watch the live streams using a combination of Charlton cash and my own money. I really don't give a monkeys that RD still owns the Valley and the training ground. It doesn't seem a good enough reason not to go to the Valley when we are allowed in.
