It is a "p" word day then, perhaps. I better keep quiet on the other "P" though, as that might stir passionate feelings so much, I could well be forced to walk the plank.

I would also like to add my continued support for this thread - when everything we do or can't do is governed by the politicians that make our laws, it is hard to avoid it and naturally people will agree/disagree various aspects.

I think anyone who wants to contribute to this thread should ask themselves some basic questions and be prepared to debate their own personal answers with others:
    1. Do you feel represented by your MP, or your local councilors?
    2. Do you think that individual rights are more important than collective rights?
    3. Do you believe that the state (taxation/laws) should be as small as possible and that Government welfare is too high?
Or, do you believe that a 'rich' country should be able to afford a state that provides welfare to the poorer sections of the population?
Or, do you believe in some hybrid version of the two thoughts above?
    4. Do you believe as a nation we can provide all resources required to increase the standard of life to everyone, or believe that by increasing the wealth of businesses that the standard of life will increase naturally?
    5. Do you believe as a nation we can deal with our global partners quicker and with better outcomes for the populace by negotiating on individual basis OR do you believe that it would be better to have common framework of rules with our global partners.
    6. Do you feel we have closer ties with the USA then the EU?
    7. Do you believe that global warming is a continuous and genuine trend? If yes, do you believe that the main contribution to global warming is from human industrialization?
    8. Do you think the scientific consensus should guide policy?
    9. Do you think governments should have a consensus on human rights/environment/free trade/territorial disputes or should each individual government be free to govern in the manner they choose? If you believe in a consensus, how will you deal with countries that don't meet that level?

There are no right and wrong answers, and there are many grey areas. There are many areas where there is a cultural difference, where some things are acceptable locally that we would find distasteful.
    IMHO

That post pretty much sums up the problem. If you like Pfeffel then 90% of the posts on here are going to pretty hard to take. Just a question ...How do you feel about The Trumpster?

Or plunge him into the deepest parts of the Pacífic. Having said that, this action would send pollution levels in said ocean, soaring.

You see this is not the correct response for someone who wishes to debate - I understand that there is some friction here, so perhaps you can explain to us as a group, why you like Boris Johnson, is it his character, is it specific policies, is it how he has handled certain situations?
I ask others not to jump down his throat with their views.

Pot, kettle and black there Billie, bit heavy on the righteous indignation. What was it you wanted to debate?
