This is a massive chance to lay down a marker, dropped points by so many of our rivals and a match against a side whose form has been patchy for a while, but this is Spurs and how often do we come up short in these moments - if Jose is making a difference then we should win, but I have that feeling that this will be a typical night for us Spurs fans with more disappointment and recriminations later.

Yet somehow it didn't work against West Scam, not least because Sissoko and Aurier kept expecting each other to close down runners on the right so nobody did

Which, of course, was all Winks' fault...

Brownhill booked already. Surprised at that. It was cynical, but it's very early.

No booking for Barnes sticking one on Toby. Best ref in the country, apparently <ok>

Alderweireld copying Hojbjerg's look from the LASK game.

This is going to be a horrible watch. I would bite your hand off for a 1-0 win

I think he should come off, that cut looks too close to the eye and the bandage may impair his vision, let alone the possibility of swelling too.

So far this is the worst 15 minutes of football I can remember for a long time. It’s dreadful all round

He gave a foul, so it had to be a yellow at the very least.
Barnes is notorious for this, so probably worth a red in this era.

Barnes puts it in the net, but he's offside. Couple of yards.

Pope out of position and Son taken out. Somehow not a booking. Dreadful decision.

This is ****ing awful. This is exactly why we won’t win anything as when these kind of matches come around we just lack belief. this has got a 1 or 2 nil Burnley win written all over it

I don’t think it’s anything to do with belief, it’s Burnley. They’ll sit in and go over the midfield. We need to stay solid and make the most of any opportunities we get in behind and ensure quality delivery from the flanks if we have the opportunity. The game has been entirely what you’d expect so far.

I get what you are saying but to have not a single shot on target in 40 minutes is pretty ****
