So can you tell us about your interest in *player x*?

Harry: Oh he’s triffic. Great player, great on the ball, great in the air, loves a pass, he’s a propa, propa player and for sure we’d love him at Totnum.

Jose: I prefer not to speak.

The chalk and cheese of the two would be amazing in press conferences <laugh>

Eriksen improves the squad so I’d be all over it regardless of how he acted (which imo wasn’t that bad)

Only problem is the team needs more work at the defensive end of the pitch rather than going forward these days

Yeah it’d be a no-brainer to get Eriksen back for me. Both Ndombele and Lo Celso seem to struggle with fitness/ injuries and so having Eriksen compete with them would be great as I think he could play in a three man midfield as one of the two in front of Hojbjerg. A very underrated aspect of his game was how much ground he’d cover week in, week out so I don’t think he’d struggle with the physical aspects of CM, he’s obviously a pussy in the challenge but I think we could work round that so long as Hojbjerg was indeed in the XI with him.

As King has more or less said though, defensive strengthening needs to be the priority right now, but if the opportunity arose to somehow bring the magical bastard back and not disrupt a move for a good CB, I’m all for it. Means Winks and Sissoko should get less time on the pitch too! It’s win-win.

Always makes me laugh because his timing is perfect. Harry could have been a great stand up.

I wouldn’t want Eriksen back...there’s something to be said for someone who was hell bent on leaving not long ago for whatever reason but he defo wanted out

    Now he wants in?

can’t trust such emotional ups n downs

does the squad need it? I’d say no

I don’t watch too much TV but when I found out he was on the celebrity jungle a year or two back I had to watch. So worth it too, was absolute gold.

Great ability as a player but his motivation/attitude has always been suspect IMO. I remember the Danish national team complaining about his lack of motivation when he was at the height of his time with Spurs. His lack of effort with Spurs was not just the last couple of months. Why is he not wanted at his new club? That tells me all I need to know.

I’d say yes. The XI? Not so much.

Even though Kane’s been channelling his inner de Bruyne this season, realistically our creative players are Lo Celso and Ndombele, both struggle with fitness and injuries, sure I read somewhere they’ve only started three games together since joining. If they don’t play it means one or both of Winks or Sissoko does and Eriksen at his worst is still light years ahead of those two.

I don’t think we should turn down good players regardless of whether they played for us and left or not. We took Keane back after 6 months, Defoe after 12 and we’ve just taken Bale back, so I’d take Eriksen back any day. Despite his downturn in form, he’s still better than most of our squad. I think having him compete with Lo Celso and Ndombele would be a win-win for the club.

Can’t see it happening though for what it’s worth. There’s a rumour Barca are looking at him anyways, think they were looking back in Jan before Inter signed him too so probably has substance.

Eriksen declined massively in his last year with us, either because he checked out early or he's just a worse player than he was. Dunno why we'd want him back either way.

We did this with Robbie Keane and ended up with a player on big wages that we couldn't shift on. I know this is just a loan but I think the money could be put to better use on players who actually want to be at the club.

Agreed. I see no reason why we should be rescuing him from his situation at Inter. If we look at adding players in their prime - as Eriksen should be at 28 - over the next couple of windows I expect it to be at CB. Regardless though we need to shift players from that position and one or two throughout the squad before we even think about more incomings.

<laugh> this was one of the reasons that forced clubs to urge supporters not to be outside training grounds and I think also allow journalists beyond the security gates on deadline day. Classic.

I`d take Eriksen back in a flash, he is a top class footballer, knows the PL and knows Spurs, you don`t turn down an opportunity to strengthen the squad even if he did leave under somewhat of a cloud, Bale left under a similar cloud and I don`t see anybody turning their nose up at his return.

Bale left under a cloud yes but that was years ago and we’d pretty much all gotten over that I think by this summer. It’s also worth noting that he has far more of a connection to the club he joined as a teenager than Eriksen ever did and I think that’s showing through in everything he’s said now he’s back. That’s having a very positive effect on a lot of fans. Though his departure was a bitter pill to swallow at the time, I think looking back Real Madrid were nigh on impossible for him to turn down at the time in terms of what that move would have meant for him in terms of winning trophies compared to Spurs at the time.

Eriksen on the other hand clearly left because he wasn’t bought into the whole project any more. We know from the Amazon doc that Levy offered to match whatever Inter would pay him, so it wasn’t money. Whether he specifically didn’t enjoy working under Jose or just felt we’d never win anything and it was time to move on, he clearly felt his time at the club was over.

I don’t really harbour any ill feelings towards him but whatever made him leave, I doubt it has changed since he left. And if the sense is that he left because he doubted Jose’s ability to win silverware, then I doubt the manager will want to work with the player.
