    Swansea City v Stoke City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Date - 27 October 2020
    Kick off - 7.45pm
    Venue - Liberty Stadium

Following their hard fought 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate, where a soft penalty salvaged a point for the hosts, next up for Steve Cooper’s promotion chasing Swans squad is a home match against Stoke City.

On Saturday, the Swans unbeaten away run continued but they were left hugely frustrated as Nahki Wells' contentious late penalty salvaged a point for Bristol City.

The Robins were heading for a second straight Championship defeat after Jamal Lowe has put Swansea in front early in the second half.

But Wells levelled seven minutes from time after Swansea wing-back Connor Roberts was adjudged to have brought down Antoine Semenyo.

The draw means both clubs are without a victory in three matches, although Bristol City remain second in the Championship table with Swansea sixth.

Swansea are now unbeaten in 10 regular-season games on the road since a 1-0 loss at Fulham in February, yet they were left disappointed they did not take more at Ashton Gate.

Whilst the Swans were drawing, Stoke City were holding off a late Brentford rally to extend their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.

The Potters had seemed set for a comfortable victory on the hour mark when Tyrese Campbell added to first-half goals from Steven Fletcher and James McClean to put them firmly in control.

But Marcus Forss pulled one back with a cool finish and added a second in stoppage time to leave Stoke relieved to hear the whistle.

The win moved Stoke up to eighth while Brentford, below par until their late revival, slipped to 12th.

Since, and including, their first meeting on Christmas Day 1925, the Swans and Stoke have played each other on 74 occasions, with Swansea winning 23, Stoke winning 30 and 21 draws.

Stoke did the double over the Swans last season, and in the corresponding fixture at The Liberty in October 2019, Stoke ran out 1-2 victors, despite the Swans taking an early lead courtesy of an Andre Ayew goal:

Turning to Tuesday evening, having not won in 3 Championship matches, the Swans will be keen to collect all 3 points and maintain their promotion challenge, whilst Stoke will want to continue their rise up the table. I’m going for a 1-1 draw. <cheers>

    Nice write up again Taff.

I’m going into optimistic mood, it’s about time we got the better of Stoke so it’s 2-1 for me.

Thanks again Taff. It will be tough game against Stoke. Our defence looked much better at Bristol than at Coventry so if we can keep that going and if, but a big if, we can put a chance away then it’s a 1-0 home win but would not be surprised by a 0-0.

Tough to call (aren't they all!)... I don't think we'll lose, hopefully the guys will have a point to prove after Saturday. I'll say 1 - 0 Swans.

    Thanks for the preview Taff
Stoke have had the Indian sign over us for a while so I am going for a win for us by 3 to 1...though we will need to make more chances and #core goals more often. Can clueless achieve this?

Clucas was not at all complimentary to us last time out. He's scored, and showed his delight to the Swans fans.
Hope we can pay him the same respect he showed to us this time round. .......! ! ! ! ! ! ! P...ck.

Clucas was missing from yesterday’s match against Brentford through injury - Stoke are hoping that he will be available for Tuesday evening.

Andre Marriner will be the man in the middle tomorrow night so hopefully no dodgy penalty decisions!

Didn't he ref us against Man City in the FA Cup, you know the one in which we were winning then lost under cloud of discontent and i don't mean Shakespeare's version either.

Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper hands a debut to Ryan Manning as one of three changes for tonight’s meeting with Stoke City.

Manning joined the Swans from QPR on deadline day, and he slots in at left wing-back in place of Jake Bidwell.

Kyle Naughton and Yan Dhanda are also handed starting roles, taking the places of Ben Cabango and Korey Smith respectively.

Freddie Woodman starts in goal, with Naughton joining Marc Guehi and Ryan Bennett in a three-man defence.

Manning and Connor Roberts are the two wing-backs, with skipper Matt Grimes and Jay Fulton paired together in midfield.

Dhanda – making his first Championship start of the season – will take up an attacking midfield role, with Andre Ayew and Jamal Lowe operating ahead of him.

Swansea City: Freddie Woodman; Kyle Naughton, Ryan Bennett, Marc Guehi; Connor Roberts, Jay Fulton, Matt Grimes (captain), Ryan Manning; Yan Dhanda; Andre Ayew, Jamal Lowe.

Substitutes: Steven Benda, Ben Cabango, Jake Bidwell, Korey Smith, Kasey Palmer, Liam Cullen, Viktor Gyokeres.

Stoke City: Adam Davies, Morgan Fox, Sam Vokes, James McClean, James Chester, John Obi Mikel (captain), Tommy Smith, Jacob Brown, Tashan Oakley-Boothe, Josh Tymon, Harry Souttar.

Substitutes: Amgus Gunn, Danny Batth, Lee Gregory, Steven Fletcher, Jordan Cousins, Nick Powell, Tyrese Campbell.

    Referee: Andre Marriner

At least there are no ex Swans players against us. So it’s Vokes or Chester we have to worry about. ;)

Not sure of changing the defence Naughton in for Cabango though
