Skipping is the best way to improve endurance/lose weight I think. Actually quite enjoyable trying to throw in some tricks I find and when doing that I barely notice that I’m exercising. Probably not the best if you have dodgy joints though, I shattered my knee cap when I was 14 and don’t have any problems doing it but I’m relatively young I suppose

I dream of going for a run. These days I hobble. You try running with a walking stick.

Another take on the red card. On the TSP Pod, which is, as always, well worth a listen, Steve Grant makes the point that even if you took the view that the offence wasn’t quite worth a straight red (it was), it was definitely a yellow, as was the attempted trip of KWP a couple of seconds before. So maybe Kevin Friend was just saving himself the trouble of getting both cards out of his pocket, or judging both offences as linked together.

The difference of course, as Ancelotti himself hinted, is that Digne faces a 3 game ban instead of one, and I guess that’s why they’re appealing. I still hope they lose it.

Looking at the replays on MoTD2, I think Digne was lucky not to get a card for "accidentally" decking Bednerak off the ball, two "accidents" were too many for Mr Friend I reckon, plus the trip, just before the tackle, where it could have been a yellow had KWP gone down, instead he stayed honest, only to be caught again, it all added up in the end. IMO.

The counter argument to this is that if the first was blown for a yellow then the second wouldn’t have happened. Can you get two yellows like this @tomw24 ?

I think Friend may have been playing advantage after the trip.

I agree, and when it happened yesterday it made me think about the game 12 months ago, to the day, that never happended. Bertrand got sent off for a studs up challenge. Now whilst it was a while ago, I dont think he meant to get anyone, and he turned with a high foot. Doesnt seem too different from yesterday, if one believes he didnt mean to tread on KWP.

Now, looking at yesterday's red, im not sure Digne isnt aware of where KPWs feet are.

Not sure about two yellows in a row like that, I dont beleive you can, but you can for excessive force, which I think is why the straight red was issued. A little in the way Pickford could have been sent off for his attempted murder of VVD, but that wasnt reviewed I dont believe by VAR.

Logically, surely you can? If a ref can play advantage and go back to book a player once the ball is dead, what happens if the same player commits a second bookable offence during the same passage of play?

Possibly, perhaps you are correct. But logic doesnt get followed, particularly in football. Perhaps Tom will respond when he sees the messages, or any other ref's on here.

Like you say, it is logical, i just didnt think they could as I thought the rules are about bringing the game back for the first offence, unless there is excessive force, alas Pickford/VVD.

The ref didnt book Digne twice, he gave him a straight red (or at least I think he did).

Which is why I said Friend was linking the two together, and treating them as a single offence.

Has Onionman been honing his typing skills, in preparation for the Villa game? This is like a drug - as soon as you come down off one high, of beating Everton, you immediately look around for the next 'fix' of playing someone else - Aston Villa. We'll overdose/get cold turkey eventually, but at present we're all seeing technicolour rainbows. Or is it just me?

I think digne knew what he was doing, personally. I don't think he was trying to injure him, but he was trying to bring him down again after the first attempt failed. It was a blatant red card, accident or not, you can't stamp on people's achilles

Skipping is great exercise, I haven’t done it since I used to occasionally go with my brother to the Poly Boxing Club near Oxford Circus, donkeys years ago. I couldn’t do it now though, you need to be reasonably light on your toes to begin with I think.

We are clearly in different generations... the closest I get to a skip is if I hang on for a pee too long in the middle of the night.

I could probably just about keep up with a walking stick, if it was running slowly
