Have to laugh at some reports / articles this morning urging Liverpool to 'push out the boat' to sign young Wesley Fofana, the best thing since VVD ... he's only played 3 games for us ffs We have also spent £36 million on the kid which, for a club of our relative size, is big big money. Great prospect and we will no doubt sell him on in a few years at a huge profit ... but we'll enjoy the ride until that day comes ...
We've been here before with Maguire and Mahrez, mate. If Liverpool really do 'push the boat out' they'll get their man.
Mahrez had to wait 3 transfer windows for his move ... the money offered for Maguire was just too daft to turn down, especially when we had the like of Soyuncu to come straight in ... let's face it, Harry wouldn't start for us now ahead of Soyuncu and Fofana ... those 2 are gonna be some partnership in the future. We won't be selling on a player we have only just brought in under any circumstances ... I am more than confident about that.
Purely out of interest, how much do you reckon your owners pumped into Leicester? The reason I ask I would have thought the money for Maguire alone (£80M) would have paid them back with interest. According to this article is was £38M... https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...naire-leicester-city-vichai-srivaddhanaprabha
Bought the club off Milan Mandric for the money you mention ... also bought the stadium back from what I think was a US property company and transferred it back to the club. They also effectively wrote off the club's debts by converting that debt to equity... whilst I don't know exact numbers I suspect the latter two combined to be significant ... probably north of £200 million ... but they would get that back with ease now, if they ever decided to sell ...
I wasn't talking about how the move worked out for the players, I was implying that if the big clubs want players from Leicester then they'll take them. Maguire captain's one of the biggest clubs in the world, he played every minute of every game last season and Man Utd had their highest finish since SAF left the club and Mahrez is doing pretty well at Man City. I doubt either of them are sat wishing they'd stayed at Leicester.
Every player has his price. All he has to do is slap in a transfer request and an incoming big bid will be seriously looked at.
Most players will follow the money (and claim they’re leaving to “win things”). Fair enough. But there’s a fairly long list of players who got their big money move and left their best days behind them at their previous club. That might make some players think twice about deserting a happy ship for the promise of glory that may never materialise. Not saying Mahrez is one of those, but, along with Maguire, he is currently risking a crooked neck looking up at Leicester.
The thing you are missing is that we are quite prepared to play hardball if it suits us ... we are under no obligation to sell. We learned very quickly from losing Kante to a release clause ... since then players have only moved on when it has also suited us and the money is right (or daft) ... Chilwell for £50 million is the latest ... Castagne is a terrific buy and will move to left back / left side once Ricardo Pereira is fit again (target next month). Our recruitment has been absolutely superb tbf
wanted to but strangely enough you wasn’t around anyway...your favourite team are playing tonight you’ll be around for that
Be a test for you boys tonight ... you can bet Dyche will have a plan for dealing with the Son / Kane combo ... and I suspect it will include a significant quota of bruises
Burnley barely have enough players to field 11 and fill the bench. Spurs should be at least 3 up by HT.
