I didn't watch the match but..... On Twitter everyone is saying how well he played On here everyone is saying he was **** Which is it?
He did ok. 6/10 for me. Worked hard. Got back and covered well. Going forward he had no end product and was guilty of giving the ball away on many occasions. One good pass for Wilson who should have took his shot first time but went to wide. Overall was one of the better players.
Yes possibly and he admitted he was nervous at the start. It also doesn’t help him that he started in a formation which no one really knew what was happening. Some passes where 5 yards and to the opposition. Maybe 6 is harsh as he scored the goal. So I will go 6.5 instead:
I thought he was. Best of a **** bunch but he looked decent, put a lovely ball through for Wilson who should have done better with it
Yes it was actually. Just wish Wilson took on the shot first time. Angle got to tight with his touch.
I didnt see the full game so can't comment on his overall contribution - and I know some have said he was giving away silly passes (although also sounds like that was a general theme across the team). From the BBC 'highlights' his pass to Wilson and his goal were touches of class, in what otherwise looked like a very dull game lacking in quality. OK some will say you can't judge a player on just 2 incidents, BUT, at least he did show SOME class. More the point, what I liked about his post match interview is that: 1) He seemed very humble and grateful to get an opportunity to be in the starting 11 2) He knew exactly what he was doing with that free kick. He said he had "done his homework" on how Rui Patricio sets up the Wolves defensive wall - and he knew how to exploit it, by going low to that side of the wall. That's a sign of a player with some intelligence, who is prepared to work hard to get an opportunity and then make the most of it when he is given the opportunity - unlike some of the primadonnas we see these days who are just in it for the cash and fancy lifestlye. Only 1 game, but I'd be happy if Bruce gives him a run to see if he can up the consistency and get a bit of form from having a proper run of games. Certainly no worse than the players Bruce has been picking.
And yes, I know Pouchy will be all over that in a flash. But I'd be prepared to give Murphy a go and see if he steps up.
