I love to see the nonleague teams progress in this competition. You sense that these clubs truly appreciate the the tradition of the FA Cup and the atmosphere at these matches is different from the league and other cup competitions. Winning a few rounds can generate a decent income bot through the turnstiles and the FA. The non-league matches I have been to this season have seen an upsurge in attendance which I think has also been good with the track and trace being managed. What was the gate at Sholing yesterday ?
It is a shame that Covid has done this. I have seen over 300 at Winchester and there were even more at a Romsey Town match I went to. A gate of 1000 would have set Sholing up for the season.
Yes, it would've been about £10,000, but they have made roughly £8000 in gates + over £5000 in prize money from the run overall.
