From 13 shots total, so as I say...missed chances. A change of system doesn't mean those 13 shots suddenly hit the back of the net! We need a plan B. But today was about missed chances and 2 mistakes, I do feel consistency in performance from elder this season could be a issue and if he's poor again Tuesday I think your call for him to be dropped may well be the correct one for a few games
The good thing about Saturday - Tuesday is the opportunity to bounce back, though as someone as already pointed out we've lost to two of the teams who will be up there come the business end of the season. This league looks to me as if its already shaping into three leagues of 8. We've got to ensure we're in the top eight all season.
Too often? Like when? 8 games 6 wins. Last season was a different team in a different league and we were battered not unlucky like today. 2 deflections made the difference today. Theirs went in, ours hit the woodwork.
McCanns tenure is littered with this sort of result .. outhought by other managers .. not having a plan B .. not being able to counter a change in style or other teams changing their tactics .. not being able to drill decent players for this level into a team .. and if you think the performances against the other teams we have beaten this season ha e been convincing you're kidding yourself .. I warned before kick off .. these type of teams take their chances against mediocre defending and that is exactly where we are .. mediocre .. good enough to squeeze past the lesser teams mainly because of their inefficiencies to put the ball in the net but not good enough under this blokes tenure to change our game to combat threats.
I'm no fan of Mccann but you're barking up the wrong tree today. It was nothing like last season or second half vs Fleetwood. As Howden states, a change of system doesn't mean those 13 shots all of a sudden hit the target and both of their real openings dont.
We by and large controlled the game. Criticising for the sake of it just underlines pre-existing bias and undermines genuine criticism when it's due. He should have been gone last season, but 1 point off top. Is hardly the time to sack a manager when his win ratio is 75%.
Not having it sorry .. this has happened far too often .. for me .. time for him to go .. sick of the same old excuses .. I say again .. would we have lost that game if Adkins had been in charge ? I somehow think not
He would have probably had this set of players ckear at the top and 2 nil up at least by half time with an assured defence well drilled
We created 13 chances...13! We could have played a different system and created the same 13 chances or even more, but if the chances are missed then it doesn't matter what system is played
Or stopped their deflection going in and ours coming off the woodwork? He screwed up tactically at Fleetwood bu taking Batty off for a forward when we were losing second balls in midfield but I don't see how he was out-thought today as we were still the better side in open play even when Peterborough were forced to change shape.
You have your opinion .. I have mine .. he isn't good enough .. simple as .. the first goal was a carbon copy of what we concede so regularly.. far too easy .. yet has he put anything in place to stop that .. has he got the defence and midfield working on it ? The answer you're looking for is NO
He pretty much identified that as an issue post match so I doubt you can say he isn't working on it. Whether he has the players to change it or not is a different matter.
