Here we go for one against a club that has been in financial meltdown. We know what that's like don't we folks. I have just read a bit about them to try to find something I can pick on to hate as I failed to find something against the last opposition, I read that back in 1986 a whole load of Argyle fans went to Wigan to watch Argyle get promoted that day. We lost 3 - 0 so I will accuse them of party pooping and settle for revenge for it. They also had Paul Cook as a Manager who I always thought was a bit of a dick when with that other Dockyard up the road. They now have John Sheridan...............say no more. This is one we can win so am looking for a different outcome from 1986. After reading all the mishaps at the Lincoln game I can forgive Argyle a bit for the loss. As well as Lincoln cheating which will be a good hate factor for them in future. They will have had a bit more time to practice without the backline so hopefully they will be in full charge on Saturday. Can we win this of course we can and I'm going for a resounding close win for us. COYG
Best Boardroom food in the country (apart from Accrington's pie) . Last time we had partridge shot on the owners estate. Not going tomorrow due to a Covid induced unilateral decision not to travel to the 'dirty' north (even though I hail from there) . No away matches for me yet this season except Cheltenham , and really missing it.
Cooper, Watts, Aimson, Opoku, Mayor, Reeves,Edwards, Fornah, Moore, Hardie, Jephcott. Subs Ruddy, Nouble, Telford, Lolos, Law, Camara, Abraham.
Kelland Watts with a great header to clear a dangerous cross and then Argyle allow an overhead shot right at the end of the first half. Otherwise I'll rely on the fact the Wigan commentary team are falling into the slough of despond. If Argyle can take their chances better we'll walk this.
Must be something. Not sure I'd start him away from home where we've struggled relatively speaking but I'm damn sure I'd have him on the bench.
Argyle escape when a Wigan "goal" is disallowed when the lino flags for the ball having gone out before it's put into the net. The ref then spends 3 minutes trying to persuade him to the contrary despite the ref having no view whatsoever. We get the right decision for once but are under pressure early in the 2nd half. Lowe brings on Nouble for a ineffective Jephcott.
Nobody in the left back position backs Nouble up as he tussles well for the ball. Wigan break down that side and score 1-1.
Referee now giving perverse decisions. Handball against Joe Edwards when he's flattened from behind and falls on the ball. We're in in trouble here.
Now the ref gives a mystery free kick on Argyle's left side from 30 yards away when the linesman saw nothing from 3 feet.
Wigan...Keane..69mins...1-1...Plymouth A...Hardie..34mins...F/T. Three certain points at H/T........two points dropped in the end....poor.
We were gift wrapped a goal....by Wigan...Hardie finished the present off. The disputed no goal took the Ref and his assistant over 3 minutes debating..... surrounded by quite vocal players from both sides. It either got returned into play from being out ....or it caught the top corner of the post and crossbar and came back into play....with the ONE camera view it was hard to tell.....when it got not given it turned Wigan on... and the oceans of possession we had in the first half disappeared. A good job they gave us a one goal start....the commentator suggested that Wigan were down and out and were ready to go home at half-time. We pressed well near the end...and it did seem easier to score than miss....but it just turned into another second half disappointment We seem to need a goal scorer....how many chances did we need to win that match. George Cooper didn't travel by the look of things....was he injured or was he isolating ?.....Mayor missed him and seemed not to be in the game for periods. Fornah was my MoM....and I thought Nouble should have started....and maybe Camara.
