Our attendances have been amazing mate. However, it is very rare that there has been a decent supportive atmosphere at home games since then, and at times the very opposite.
I'm by no means a happy clapper and I have my dark moods when we lose but when it's good I at least enjoy it, your right there are lots of people like that. Theres a guy sits near us, never budges when we do anything good, hardly acknowledges a goal and if we concede lambasts the players in a frenzied scream. I've seen him walk out when we are winning 1-0 with 15 minutes to go. I just can't work him out and whether he is ultra negative or ultra intense. I think many of the super negative people on RTG don't go to the game and just get their kicks from putting the club down at every opportunity, super cynics.
Just need dancing snipes and then kitten will have his full set on show! He’s not quite in the realms of split or glass but he’s getting there.
CEO talks openly about exclusivity, proof of funds etc and we have; those with the view that he is just kicking the can down the road to take the heat of Donald those with the view that it confirms something is happening I'm too long in tooth too blindly believe what the club say and have the scars of many years of false dawns and broken promises but even I can't believe that the club would gain anything at all from the first point being true. Not only would that turn off any potential buyers/investors but listening to Rodwell I got the impression that his relationship with Donald may not be as cosy as we may expect therefore why would he want to protect him. There is the argument he will lose his job if Donald loses control, if Rodwell is as well thought of as we are led to believe he won't have problem getting new employment after his no doubt large pay off. Whether a takeover/investment/share re-apportionment actually happens I don't know, there are so many things that could derail any deal, but I'm inclined to believe something is clearly going on behind the scenes. That doesn't mean I'm being played like a fiddle by the club, delusional, gullible, whatever some posters on here like to throw out, if it doesn't happen yes I'll be gutted but I'll be gutted by the fact it didn't get over the line not that I was inclined to believe something was going on.
There is absolutely zero benefit in the club pretending there is a takeover as it would only come back at them ten fold when the pretence was over. Secondly how could the club even get away with pretending there is a takeover when there are Sunderland supporters working at the club. Those supporters will have seen visitors, heard rumours, had crack with the secretary, the driver etc etc. All in all I find it truly bizarre that people are still pushing the nothing is happening agenda. It's very similar to the flat earth type movement in terms of personality type. Edit - that's not to say the takeover couldn't collapse at any point. But that's completely different to it being made up.
Exactly. You just have to apply a bit of common sense to see that the handful of people who have confirmed, over quite some time, there is a takeover going on are good, sensible posters, consistent in their information, and in protecting their sources. Of course they can't be privy to the detail or to the timing, and they wouldn't divulge it if they were. If these people were wind-ups,just out to fool everyone and give themselves a laugh,as time went on they would have embellished their posts with fantasy and untruths to perpetuate their fun, which they clearly haven't. Those over the road, including the few who've migrated over here, have nowhere to go. They've disbelieved, mocked and, sometimes, insulted those who've posted something of interest and,of course, they can't now change their approach without losing an awful lot of kudos amongst their fellow ne'er- do- wells. They must be desperately hoping that nothing comes of all of this so they can look and feel justified, and,no doubt, enjoy themselves with a lot of crowing, which challenges the belief that they're true fans of this wonderful club. If,however, they're wrong, they'll just lay low for a while until they can find something to have another go at. Very strange, envious people of sour character in my view. Unfortunately though, that's life. When you get 40,000 + people together, there is always going to be a representation of human kind right across the spectrum and an internet forum is an ideal vehicle for this to be exposed.
I've read your posts with interest since you appeared without comment. This post however proves one thing to me, you do not have a clue about football or what it takes to gain promotion. This team may well get into a play off place but as for promotion...No.
those last few words are what frightens me most, be close to the top of the league and him thinking of his pockets rather than the benefit of the club and moving the goalposts!
i think it was GOM over the road explained that its an open-ended period, so long as both parties are still actively working towards a deal. I'm encouraged by Wheatsheaf's 10th Nov crack, bit like buying a property, you can exchange contracts etc., but the completion date kind of brings things into focus for all parties to get things done. Just fingers crossed now that all goes to plan. It would be a great boost for a lot of us in these otherwise depressing times. KTF & FTM
I suspect that him retaining a few shares will be how he's effectively moved on/satisfied as we know how he's clinging on to the dream.
I agree it’s not the blind optimism the crowd used to have in the early 80s when I first started going but the last 10 premier seasons where - bar the odd season - we averaged 4 to 5 home wins a season won’t have helped.
It's not easy to get behind a team not playing well, but that is precisely when they need the support the most..
You still don’t seem to realise them players couldn’t of cared less wether you supported them or not you were wasting your breath mate
