Tickets for Sholing's big FA Cup match against Torquay on Saturday have sold out. The match will not be streamed live but there will be full match commentary on a BBC Radio Devon link on the website at 3pm. It's a shame because it might've been a financial windfall but the crowd has to be less than half of the 1,000 capacity. But the chance of more prize money and the potential of an even bigger draw in the First Round proper is a huge incentive to win.
Looking at the Europa League, and Rangers produce another fine win. Not my favourite team in Scotland by a long way, but I have to admire the way Gerrard and McCallister have instilled in them, a will to win, even when faced by technically better opposition as we shall see when they progress to the knockout phases. The other result that caught my eye was a 3-1 win for Happoel against the perennials of European football, Slavia Prague. I would love an Israeli team to progress far in this competition.
Rank your top 10 GOAT players on the Beeb... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54543144 But no Bestie or Moore?..
Cruyff is mine, followed by Maradona and Pele. Puskas deserves a mention as he helped to change football. Don't think the Brazilian Ronaldo should be there ahead of Bestie particularly.
Brazilian Ronaldo was an absolute beast tbf but injuries ruined him a bit. From my lifetime Zidane is my favourite, even if I acknowledge he wasn't as good as Messi/Ronaldo. Such a joy to watch.
I find it difficult yet to rank them but more have a collective GOAT... if pushed, I always just nudge Diego to the no.1 slot but it is difficult. Some true geniuses have played this game: Cruyff, Pele, Marsden, Best, Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane, Gascoigne, Platini, Beckenbauer, Puskas....
Never forget being stood in the Northam as part of an 18k crowd watching us struggle against a side like Oldham and singing 'Wotton for England'. Simpler times.
